“Stunning property, beautiful rooms, excellent hosts.”

Breakfast was great. Done quickly, and tasty - but not much in the way of options. However perfect as a quick meal before setting off. The rooms were fab - looking out over the house, across the pond. Each room had its own unique style. There was a great little fire-pit you could sit around after dark (operates easily by gas), again looking out to the house. The owners of the property, Hal and Julie, were both so welcoming. Hal met us on arrival, and gave us a quick introduction to what to do, how things work etc. Julie very kindly gave us a whistle-stop tour of the house just before we left. Its not far from some good local restaurants, and we went to Francis Southern Table - which was just perfect. The whole experience was tranquil, stunning, relaxing, and just what we needed after all the travelling we had done to that point.

The property is gorgeous. Very quite and comfortable. This was our 4th time staying at the Greenwood. We will continue to go back each year.

What an amazing place! Right on the plantation area with a view on the main big house. Very comfortable room, nice. Breakfast and fantastic staff including the owner who will gladly tour you through the house and tell you about its rich history, including those where the house acted as a star in movies, most significant one being North and South with Patrick Swayze.

“Memorable visit at beautiful estate”

After some drive through quiet forest arriving in the middle of nowhere at at closed gate opened using a given code. Magic arrival evening after long drive from Texas. Beautiful views and atmosphere, and very private. Our (King bed) room was very comfortable and designed with good taste, and with great views in both sides. Two horses in the field outside balcony. The main mansion lying close towards other side. Our visit being in early January and also not in weekend, us being these days the only guests. Personal and engaged attention both by staff and by estate owners themselves. As example, given private guided tour at the estate. Quite a memorable visit.

A warm welcome and everything provided to make our stay really comfortable. The owners live on site and are incredibly friendly knowledgable and welcoming. Stacey and Mary who work there are full of "Southern Hospitality" and are both lovely. We were made to feel valued and welcome throughout our stay. I really can not fault it. It is off the beaten track a little. If peace and quiet is not what you want - then this place is not for you. However if you do want a taste of life on a plantation and want to sit in a rocking chair on the balcony and just enjoy the serene setting and listen to nature with no other man made noise..... Then go ahead and book.

We stayed in one of the units on the top floor that had views both out the front and the back of the property, overlooking the lake to the plantation house. It made for a very spectacular stay, where we could sit on rocking chairs on the veranda, light the citronella candles provided and enjoy the tranquility (until the frogs started their chorus in the evening !!!!). Excellent size of rooms, very clean, and good breakfast in the morning. Snacks and water available anytime in the morning and fridge, freezer and bags of ice readily available. A very pleasant stay, which included a guided tour of the plantation house. Although rebuilt since a fire in the 1960’s it is still spectacular and the tour was incredibly interesting.
