“Very disappointing overall. We had expectations of something better.”
Hosts had left 2 bottles of decent local wine, tea and coffee on arrival. The size of the house and gardens was very good. Plenty of space inside -3 bedrooms and a large lounge and kitchen/ diner. Good selection of quality appliances & other equipment. Lounge has 3 sofas and a smart TV. Interior of the house was cool during the heat of the day. Large table and quantity of chairs on the patio, with 3 sun umbrellas. Some lovely fruit trees - Mirabelles, Quice and Vines evident and Mint, which gave an attractive aroma on the patio. Location is good, very quiet and private; St Martin de la Place village has a bar, bakery and pharmacy (opening times of these varies so worth checking daily.) Another bar a local “guingnette” is located on the river a few minutes out of the village. Easy access to Saumur and its facilities- supermarkets, vet’s surgery (important if travelling with dogs) and several local wine caves.
