“Great skiing vacation in southeastern France”

Sandrine & David are very nice hosts who welcomed us warmly in Chantemerle/Serre Chevalier. The chalet is situated on the eastern mountain range a bit above the village. Nice and sunny terrace with a view to the slopes. Jaccuzi on the terrace with mountain view and a barrel sauna. Two parking spaces at the chalet and you will receive local permit to park on the western mountain range near the slopes which is just perfect. Kitchen and appartment is fully equipped with washing machine and dryer. Large table which offers ample space for 6 persons to make breakfast and eat diner. Chantemerle offers some nice restaurants. Further up the valley in the nice town of Monetier les Bains, you will find even more good and cosy restaurants and bars. A must is also a visit of Briancon with the fortress and fortifications constructed by Vauban. Nice old ville for doing some shopping. If you have ski boot problems, I highly recommend Bruno in the center of the town who is one of the most experienced guys I have ever met so far to optimally fit your boots. Skiing area is vast and mainly consists of east facing runs, snow quality and coverage is therefore quite good even later on in March. Serre Chevalier offers some of the finest, long downhill decents starting high above on top and curving down to the different towns in the Serre Chevalier valley. With the ski pass Grand Galaxy you will have the opportunity to pay a visit to other fabulous skiing areas in the region, Montgenevre and Sestriere (Via Lattea), Les Deux Alpes, Alpe d'Huez etc.. There is also a nice cross country slope from Chantemerle/St. Chaffrey up and above Monetier les Bains. Monetier offers in addition a spa and bath with hot outdoor pools and saunas. Le Pi Mai on the slopes near Cucumelle is highly recommended, offering the best food in the mountains.

Our family of 5 stayed here and it couldn’t have been more comfortable! David couldn’t have been more helpful with local recommendations. It is a clean homely space. I would highly recommend this accommodation.
