“Enjoyable and comfortable stay”

Staffs were very friendly, kind and welcoming. Kitchen is big and some drink are also very helpful to relax. Taraibune experience which staff recommended was amazing.

Definitely the nicest guesthouse I have stayed in! The retro vibe was fabulous, the room spacious and really comfortable and the shared facilities spotlessly clean. The kitchen was huge and had everything that you needed to self-cater. Very close to the ferry and Ogi is a beautiful little town. The owner was friendly, hospitable and extremely helpful. I would recommend a visit to the Kodo taiko centre for a unique experience. Thank you, Kota, for making our stay such a memorable one!

Location was good and room was clean. The place has existed for a long time there is even a small museum.

We loved our stay at Hanaya Guesthouse. The owner, Kota is such a gem - a wealth of local insight wrapped up in an infectiously calming demeanor. His recommendations for izakaya (Matsuhama) , cafe and taiko experience were spot on. There is much to say about about the shared spaces and things to discover - all very memorable. As for accommodation, we had everything we needed. A very special place to stay and we hope to return to one day.

Guesthouse Hanaya is a great place to stay. The owner is very friendly and helpful and the guesthouse is clean and comfortable. It is a classic Showa style and has many old retro items and fixtures. Great place to stay when you are on Sado Island.

The location was great. The floor bedding was comfortable. Staff were lovely Big kitchen and fridges to use.

We loved the authenticity of the place, its cleanliness, and the equipment available both in the kitchen and the little touches like the towels provided for guests, and even the beers. Everything was carefully thought out to make guests feel comfortable and quickly at home in this hotel. But above all, the real gem of this place is Kota, the hist. He was attentive, always available, super friendly, and incredibly generous with us. For example, he drove us by car to the bus station, and he didn’t hesitate to call a car rental agency to make a reservation on our behalf since we had difficulties doing it ourselves without speaking Japanese. Thanks to him, our holiday was truly exceptional. His house is beautiful and conveniently located not far from the part of Sado’s coast we liked the most. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit Sado island

Good location (only 5 minutes walk from Ogi port) ,kind helpful staff, and the beautiful Japanese traditional building I love it! Good value for money.

We had a wonderful time in Sado Island. Hanaya guesthouse is a former ryokan, full of charm and very clean. It is located next to Ogi port, which is ideal when arriving by ferry boat. Our host was very helpful and got us plenty of recommendations during our stay ! A lovely place when seeking for calm and nature in Japan.

This was my second time staying here. Thanks for the excellent hospitality! I'm sure I'll be back again in the future.

“A great time off the beaten path”

The location of this guesthouse is great. Important spots in Ogi (super markets, restaurants, the tourist info, etc.) can be easily reached by foot. It is also only a couple of steps away from the sea (although it is recommended to travel along the coast a bit to truly appreciate it). We got two rooms which (based on my understanding) where quite traditional (which was one of my reasons for chosing this place, so it definitely delivered). The stuff was very friendly and helpful, and spoke good English, making this guest house a great destination for international travellers (they even had a German map of Ogi!).

“Cozy stay near the sea!”

Kota-San was very helpful and welcoming! He also spoke excellent English and really made an effort to communicate with me and my girlfriend. The guest house is very nice, a renovated former ryokan, so it is quite traditional. The amenities were great, the house really has everything you would need. The location was perfect! It was really close to the Ogi port, so during Earth Celebration, It is very convenient. Overall my stay here was wonderful. I will definitely be back.
