“A unique and one of a kind experience for a great price”

This was one of the most interesting experiences I've had with a booking.com stay. It's an indigenous community that has a small lodging for tourists. It was comfortable and sufficient in terms of the accommodations. The indigenous ladies are always walking around and love to chat with you. They speak Quichua and some speak Spanish. We were able to chat for a long time with a big group of them and learn about their culture, way of life and families. We hiked up to a hillside with one woman who showed us her cows and different crops. They cooked us their homemade meals and made us feel really welcome. It was an unforgettable experience that I highly recommend. One sweet old grandma always had a little puppy following her around. It was so adorable. When we planned to leave at 4 am, one of the ladies organized a taxi for us. We didn't have enough cash left, so the woman's husband lent us some bills in exchange for a bank transfer super late at night. They continuously went out of their way to help us and show kindness. I will never forget it.

“A warm welcome”

The community was so welcoming, and we're happy to chat with us. We enjoyed our guided walk, and learning about the crops they grow. It was nice to be able to support the community further by purchasing hand knitted alpaca designs.

“Unique experience in the local village with locals”

This accomodation is really something different from what we usually book. It is composed of few nice rooms above a community space of the village and it is maintained by the local families. It was very clean with lovely bathroom with real stone. Also the bed was cozy and warm. It is simple, but it gives you the unique opportunity to live, watch or observe real life of the village with locals. As they invite you to their museum and later for a walk through the village and fields with their kids and animals. You can also climb the hills and see Chimborazo as it is really close. If you ask them, they can also prepare delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner for you. There are no other tourists, no shops, no street vendors, so it is just you and rural surrounding. We felt really welcomed and I hope that La Moya will preserve its unique character for next decades because it is really something!

Comunidad la Moya as the name says, is a local community composed by few families. They are all very friendly and available. We also did a local trekking with a local woman who told us about their culture and traditions. There is also a local market where you can buy some handmade stuff and a museum that describes their history up to the present.

I enjoyed my stay here. It's located in the countryside of Chimborazo far off the main road which means no smell of gasoline (smog). Be aware that the city Riobamba is full of smog. Therefore, I preferred the countryside. The room is clean with a window to open for clean fresh air. The bathroom has great facilities and hot water. The wifi is great. I even worked remotely from here. The food is tasty and organic. The water comes from the mountain, but bring a few water bottles to be safe. The people are very friendly. They have a taxi service. In addition, you could also get the phone number of the taxi driver who drove you to the Comunidad, so you have two prices to compare.
