“I would never (even if someone paid me) stay there again.”
During my 1st week I had a feeling my bathroom was not being cleaned properly with disinfectant. But because I had the window open continously, I thought that was maybe the reason I couldn't smell cleaning products. During my 2nd week, one evening after showering, I realised the bathroom floor was quite wet. I used one of the hotel towels to dry the floor and couldn't believe the colour of the towel afterwards. It was black and covered with dust, fluff and dirt. I then checked the toilet (inside, around & behind) and was shocked to see how filthy it was. But that wasn't the end of of it. From lying on the bed every night watching TV, I was getting quite bad backache. So I decided to use one of the 2 chairs from the desk to sit on. When I picked up one of the chairs to bring it closer to the TV, I couldn't believe the dirt that was underneath it. It was just like the bathroom - dust, fluff & dirt. And i'm not talking about 1 or 2 days worth of dust, fluff & dirt, it looked like 2 or 3 weeks worth. So then I switched on all the lights and inspected my room thoroughly. It was filthy, underneath the desk, under the beds, in the corners and all along the skirting boards. So I put all the chairs, the waste bin and items i'd moved into one area of the room, so that the next day the cleaner would see everything she had not cleaned. I also left the now black towel on the bathroom floor. When I returned the next day, I was shocked to see that the cleaner had not even been in my room, not even to empty the bin. I stormed down to the reception and in anger told the manager how disgusted I was that the cleaner had not been cleaning my room. He came to view my room and even he admitted that the dust, fluff & dirt was at least 2 or 3 weeks worth. He then went and fetched a vacuum cleaner and cleaned my room himself. He also told me that the hotel would compensate me for the inconvenience caused, but I received no compensation.
