“Upstairs/downstairs”

Bairbre was a lovely friendly host. She is a wealth of information about the local area. We really appreciated the half dozen eggs we were given on arrival. The first floor of the house is lovely and spacious, with everything we needed. The laundry room with a washing machine and dryer was handy. Having the cats wander in to say hello absolutely made my day as I've been missing my own while travelling. Views out the window of the Highland Cattle was a real treat. The property is quiet and peaceful, and well located for exploring the surrounding areas.

Fab accomodation. Kids loved every bit of it, especially saying hello to the chickens in the morning 😁 Beds were super comfy and we will def be back to do some exploring as we were there for a wedding this time.

“Relaxing and stylish retreat in the bucolic Irish Midlands”

Barthalomew’s Loft in Johnsfort is absolutely lovely — the reform that the hosts, Richard and Bairbre, have done on an old farmhouse is one of the nicest we have ever seen! They’ve managed the rare feat of creating a space which is comfortable and stylish at the same time; great for families or people who appreciate a curated collection of special finds well-integrated into the design of the loft. The hosts are warm, inviting, lively, discreet, and extremely knowledgeable about the area. The farm is wonderful and Clonmellon is the perfect village to have right nearby. We couldn’t recommend a site more highly for a relaxing stay.

When we arrived Bairbre was there to greet us with freshly baked bread, jam and there were eggs from the hens on the property set out for our use, which made for tasty and handy breakfasts! Everything was catered for - the kitchen had all the appliances, utensils and complimentary tea and coffee we could ask for. Plenty of character in the accommodation and thoughtfully furnished and decorated, which made for an enjoyable experience. The thoroughly compiled guestbook gave us plenty of information about the property and the surrounding area, including history, attractions and food/drink recommendations. It was a home away from home and we would highly recommend a stay at Bartholomew's Loft.

A wonderful place to stay on a working farm. the accommodation was ample and well set out for a family or a couple. the hosts were very helpful, informative and friendly.

The hosts were amazing and my son loved the chickens. The facilities were great and it was close to other areas of interest. It was easy to take a walk or go for a day trip out.

The house was absolutely stunning and so cozy The hosts were lively and extremely friendly and helpful.and could not do enough for us . The house had everything you possibly could want .and was spotless clean and we needed an ealy check in and the hosts accomadated us in every way . We will definitely be back and I cannot recommend it enough

A great place to stay and explore the local area. The property was excellent and as seen.

That Bairbre and Richard were very helpful and nice. All channels and subscriptions on the TV were great. We enjoyed a lot sitting at the super comfortable sofa in front of the stair with the view of the window. It was great to have the washer and dryer, iron, etc. We enjoyed the company of one of the cats, so friendly! We forgot to write on the guestbook... We'll definitely have to go back!

The hosts were so nice and friendly, the place had an eclectic decoration, it was very special and cozy, every piece of furniture had a story behind. It had everything you need for a short or a long stay, you feel like being at home. Beautiful surroundings, definetely to recommend and we will come back
