Overview
Styled with baroque-inspired gilded mouldings and elegant furniture, the hotel is set in Quito’s historical district, only 20 metres from San Francisco Square. Guests can enjoy the hot tub, and a charming colonial style courtyard with a vaulted glass ceiling. Hotel Boutique Portal de Cantuña has plenty of spacious Spanish galleries decorated with plants and ceramic objects. Common areas have free Wi-Fi. Portal de Cantuña offers rooms with flat-screen TV and private bathrooms with showers, bathrobes and toiletries. Some rooms have views of the courtyard and are styled with exposed red bricked walls and colourful tapestries. An American breakfast with tropical fruits can be enjoyed daily. Quito’s business area is a 15-minute drive from the hotel. Shuttles to Mariscal Sucre Airport, a 30-minute drive, can be arranged.

The hotel is over 200 years old. ... almost as old as white settlement in Australia. It is full of character and evinces a time past with its faded glory. The manager , Darwin, does a great job. For me, it's character was a real plus and it is very centrally located in the old quarter

A quirky and unusual hotel with lots of interesting features. Lashings of hot water and good pressure in the shower (not always found in South America) Sonja and Darwin were very helpful and made me feel very welcome.

The staff were lovely and made you feel at home. The communal areas are beautifully decorated and great for relaxing. The location was amazing, 1 minute walk from San Francisco square.

“Exquisite peace in the heart of Quito - exceptional accommodation and host”
I had to take breakfast at a cafe on main plaza as restaurant at hotel was being renovated. It was excellent with lovely food, service and plaza view. The hospitality of the owner and her assistant was exceptional. The building is beautiful with an inner garden sitting area and great peace with its courtyard location.

Staff were very nice and friendly and helpful. Very secure - staff had to buzz you in a locked door. Location was great - just around the corner from San Francisco plaza, but still quiet at night. Shower was extremely powerful.
