It’s a magical place in the middle of the jungle - really a nice experience ! Time is stopping and you can fully disconnect. The view is spectacular, the rooms give you a feeling of being in the middle of the jungle. Breakfast is good. Staff is also very friendly, we spent a lot of time talking to to them to learn about tue country side.

We loved this place so much and it is one of my all time favourite stays. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent and freshly prepared with much care. What made this place such a standout was the stunning views over the valley, simply magical. We loved all of the sounds of bird life and we were lucky enough to see Toucans each day. If you want a peaceful stay in nature, you will find it here. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Lodge was truly unforgettable — without a doubt the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with exceptional hospitality. The lodges are beautiful, thoughtfully designed, and perfectly immersed in the surrounding nature. Waking up to the sounds of the jungle — birds, insects, and distant waterfalls — felt magical and deeply relaxing. One of the most memorable experiences was discovering the hidden waterfall (Alan’s suggestion) — a wild, untouched gem that made us feel like we had stepped into a secret world. The food deserves its own praise: delicious home-made local dishes, fresh ingredients, and wonderful local fruits served every morning. It added such an authentic and comforting touch to the experience. If you are looking for a place where nature, tranquility, and genuine hospitality come together, this is it. Santa Juana is not just a stay — it’s an experience. A truly magical place we will never forget.

“A hidden paradise - an exceptional stay!”

Hidden away in lush rainforest and situated on a hillside, we got exceptional views of the stunning scenery and wildlife from our spacious balcony, complete with hammock. We were lucky enough to see macaws, toucans and vultures soaring through the skies and nesting in the nearby trees. The villa was beautifully decorated, well equipped and clean, and provided stunning vistas across the landscape. The beds were extremely comfortable and we loved waking to the sounds of birds and wildlife in the morning. The owners and all the staff at Santa Juana were fantastic - going above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was also a highlight of our stay, as we got to sample a range of exotic fresh juices and fruit and the gallo pinto and casado were some of the best we tasted in Costa Rica. Our kids also loved the fluffy pancakes with maple syrup! The pool provided a nice space to relax and cool off during the hot days and the restaurant / bar area was a wonderful place to hang out and appreciate the surrounding wildlife. A highlight for us was taking a hike down to the nearby waterfall (owned by Santa Juana lodge). A beautifully quiet and clean area that all of us enjoyed swimming in. For those who are a little more adventurous, there are also platforms you can jump in from! This was one of our favourite places to stay in Costa Rica and would highly recommend it to those looking for a peaceful get-away!

“It was wonderful, friendly, relaxing, interesting and peaceful.”

We loved every minute of our stay at the lodge. The location was stunning, so peaceful and the views were incredible. The walk to the waterfall was amazing; we also spent a great morning swimming in the different pools. The food was varied and tasty and we loved the presentation, the shrimp rice was a particular highlight and the eggs and traditional breakfast was a perfect start. Our cabin was gorgeous - the shower had a great view and we loved sitting outside listening to the wildlife and at night the stars were breathtaking. All of the staff were great so friendly and informative. This also included the support from Alison when booking the room and organising transport. The swimming pool was also a hidden gem and we really enjoyed our cooking class. A wonderful stay from start to finish :)

This is the most magical place that I have ever stayed at. The views were spectacular, wildlife on the doorstep, the waterfall kept us and the kids entertained for two days (it was truly amazing) and the staff were so friendly and attentive.

“Pure relaxation”

The lodge offers beautiful views over the mountains and over the Pacific Ocean. There‘s plenty to see in the local village of Santa Juana, from wildlife to beautiful waterfalls where one can bathe in. The food is deliciously prepared freshly by the staff everyday. The staff are absolutely fantastic. Everything they do is made with love, and you feel this as a guest. Many of the staff are related to each other, and they make you feel like a part of their family as well during your stay. We’re very grateful for having stayed here and experiencing the local culture and landscapes. I‘d strongly recommend booking this lodge. An SUV is a must to get to the lodge, a 4x4 even more so.

Our stay was amazing. We read a lot of comments about the road beforehand, but it is actually perfectly fine if you rent a 4x4, and the drive itself is very beautiful. The accommodation is even more stunning in real life than in the photos – it truly feels like a fairytale to wake up here. The staff is incredibly friendly, and especially Ariel and Alain made our stay even more special. They are extremely knowledgeable about nature. Alain knows everything about birds and showed us so many during dinner. You can really see that this is their passion – they have a smile on their faces all day long and nothing is too much to ask. A true hidden gem and highly recommended. Please note that the nearest supermarkets are about an hour’s drive away, so make sure to bring some snacks and wine with you in advance. The food mainly consists of rice and beans, but if you ask, they are happy to prepare other options. The meals are simple but fine. The property also has a beautiful private park (even more impressive than some national parks), with a waterfall you can jump into and several stunning hiking trails. (We can definitely recommend the massage — she came to our cabin and it was amazing.)

Amazing view and great lodge. In the middle of nature. Lots of birds spotted. And last but not least; the staff was amazing. Made me feel at home and part of the family. I stayed for a whole week and believe me if you only spent one or two nights there you will regret that you can’t stay longer. A place to never forget.

We booked 3 lodges and they were exactly as we had hoped. They were in keeping with the breathtaking scenery. We loved every minute of our stay, from the exciting drive up to Santa Juana, the wildlife and beautiful surroundings.

What a find! I stumbled open this place when searching for accommodation near MA to break our 4 days in the area. How lucky we were to find this stunning place! The lodges were huge with the most beautiful vantage point with fantastic views over the valley into the mountains and onward to the coast. Hugo met us and immediately made us feel at home away from home with everyone there greeting us with kindness and hospitality! The food is local home cooked Costa Rican dishes cooked by Julio and staff. With two beautiful waterfalls within their grounds it’s the perfect place to unwind and explore. We spent a day just swimming in the waterfalls and exploring the trails surrounded by wildlife. This place is just beautiful and the people who run it too from the local community make it so special. We cannot recommend it enough! It’s feels like a secret place that we feel lucky to have found.
