We had a fantastic stay. We learned a lot about the lives of the Uros. Walter and his family were wonderful hosts. Saying goodbye was difficult.

Walter and his family look after this amazing place so well and it truly shows! The rooms are lovely and spacious, hot water is available at all times and although temperatures drop during the night the room is cozy and warms up pretty quickly. We were welcomed with amazing hospitality, yummy dinner and breakfast. We were given a boat tour of the Uros community and then a quick tour of how the family live on the floating island. Thank you to the whole family for the wonderful stay - I would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone!

This property and location is unique - once in a life time experience. The house is on a floating island made of reeds and the beauty of your host Walter is that he explains everything about it and his local traditions, including crafts his family make and sell.

“An immersive cultural experience. Restful and educational”

A truly unique, immersive cultural experience. Very comfortable accommodation and great bed with plenty of bedding to keep the cold out. Walther and his family were beyond friendly and willing to share their floating island and knowledge with us. We were taken on a traditional boat ride and also a motor boat ride to the schools and other islands. We were educated in how to build a floating island and on local and historical facts. Walther has a museum filled with his wonderful hand made reed birds and other wildlife and traditional scenes that he showed us. 3 meals a day and teas and coffee available through the day.

Everything was amazing! The beds and covers were so soft and warm. As well as being a fabulous engineering project, it is also very stylish inside. Others have said that there wasn't a huge amount of food but we thought it was ideal. Super fresh and beautifully presented. We loved learning about the building of the island and going out in the traditional boat. We loved our time here. So peaceful and comfortable. Thank you again Walter & family x

“Overnight stay on a floating island - an unforgettable experience”

Staying on Uros Island was a truly wonderful experience. We stayed in a beautifully decorated room on the island where Walter's family lives. Walter was incredibly helpful, arranging our arrival (his father picked us up by motorboat). Throughout our stay, the family took great care of us, cooking us delicious meals, and Walter took us on a boat tour of Uros Island, explaining how the islands are built and how the community lives. He then organized a day trip to Taquile Island before we even thought of it ourselves. Walter sells beautiful handicrafts made by his family on the island. Watching the sunrise from the island's observation deck and the breathtaking night sky is an unforgettable experience.

The place is really nice and room is very well decorated There is a heater and lots of blankets to keep you warm (it gets quite cold at night although it can be warm during the day in the sun) There is electricity which is not the case everywhere on the lake! The food prepared by Walter and his mother Maria is very very tasty The host and his family will do their best to accommodate your requests and help you with transportation we enjoyed the community tour, traditional fishing and kayaking

Magic stay on the lake Titicaca. Walter and his family are amazing hosts. Maria’s food was simple, yet so delicious! Walter took us on a little boat trip around the floating islands and introduced us to the lifestyle of local people. Maria gave us to try traditional costumes, also showed us her crafts that were for sale. The shower was really hot, the bed extremely comfortable and the views were priceless. Couldn’t recommend enough!

First of all, we did a long research on choosing the right stay at the Uros community. There is so many places that don’t belong to real Uros anymore. Walter and his family are amazing hosts. He build the island with his dad. For us he took care of everything. Special food requests, pick up from the train station and also transfer to the airport. His transfer services have a really fair price. The boat pick up, and a tour on a traditional boat are included. The communication with Walter works really good. Ge also speaks some English. We had really hot water and were able to use the heater inside the room whenever we wanted. Everything is very clean and neat. With Walter and his family you will have one of the greatest experiences at the Uros community!

Unique private experience on a floating island. Five stars plus for Walter and his beautiful family. Everything so well organized. We loved this place so much. Must do for everyone who’s visiting Puno.

“A tranquil stay in paradise”

We decided to book this wonderful floating island because of the fabulous reviews. The reviews were spot on. A stunning tranquil setting to unwind and enjoy uninterrupted views of the lake. The interior of the home was beautiful with wonderful embroidered linens, cushions and a huge comfy bed. We also enjoyed the outside bed to birdwatch and see the sun go down . Our meals were cooked by Walters mum who served us lovely home cooked, fresh food ( catering for vegetarians.) Walter made us feel so welcome.He took us out on his traditional reed boat and showed us how he built his island . He is clearly a very skilled man but very modest with it. If you love nature, isolation in a wonderful location then do not hesitate to book Walters home .

Very clean, extremely relaxing. Really felt like we were the only visitors on Uros. Walter and his parents could not have been better hosts. He is so proud of his Uros heritage and genuinely likes to share it with guests.
