Lots of communal space, good kitchen

We loved our stay here and wished we could have stayed longer! The kitchen has all the facilities you need to prepare meals, the hostel is also in an excellent location with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants very close by. There's also a place next door we rented bikes for the full day for 5 dollars.

The bed was so comfortable that I slept all afternoon, then got up to cook dinner. I slept again that night, and then took a walk along the beach in the morning. There's a large supermarket nearby, and for someone like me who's been abroad for so long, being able to cook my favorite dishes was wonderful.

Great location, close to the beach, supermarket and nice restaurants/bars. The people working there were very friendly and helpful. I also met a lot of nice people during my stay. Everything was cleaned well every day and the private room was excellent.

Great hostel in a very central location. Quiet and peaceful, very clean and spacious. It has all the necessary amenities, a well equipped kitchen and free coffee and water . We stayed in a private double room with our own bathroom , very comfortable, with a large bathroom and constant hot water. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful.

“A good stay to explore Puerto Viejo”

This hostel is very clean (especially the common kitchen) and the staff is friendly (always greeting and helpful). You can easily explore Puerto Viejo by foot from this location and enjoy a relatively peaceful night (due to Santa Semana it was busier than usual).

The hostel is well located about 5 minutes from the bus stop in Puerto Viejo, it has nice common areas and it is easy to meet people there. The rooms are spacious and the bed was comfortable. The staff was nice.

I spent there only one night, wanted to extend, but was sold out. Very quiet and with 6min walk to main street. I had double room with shared bathroom and was always able to use it without waiting. Room was clean and stuff was great.

its a very relaxing hostel. kitchen is well equipt. beds are nice, plug at each bed. shower were good (and cold). Free coffee in the morning! :)

I really loved the hostel! Nice vibe, I met amazing people because it's very social, great staff, nice room, very good private bathrooms and hot showers, free coffee, big lockers! I totally recommend it!

Perfect location in the center of Puerto Viejo,close to bus station,close to many restaurants and shops.But at the same time is really quiet.There is nice garden with lots of space for sitting and relaxing.Nice personal at the reception.

The facilities were very clean and comfortable and the location and staff (particularly Cynthia) were fantastic!! I was particularly impressed by the clean warm showers and the large, beautiful garden area with lots of comfortable chairs and tables to relax and work and communicate remotely and privately on one's laptop. I also found the hostel to be very safe and secure with large individually lockable private storage areas in every dorm room. If you shop around, I know you may be able to find a few less expensive hostels in or close to Puerto Viejo, but from my own personal experience, you are going yo get what you pay for and, in my opinion, the Pagalu offers the best value-for-dollar option in the area. I obviously recommend it very highly.
