“A Home Away From Home”

I'm glad I didn't pay a lot more for a mass-produced, impersonal hotel a bit closer to the center. By booking less than a mile away (a $2 taxi ride), I not only saved a bundle, I enjoyed a warm personal welcome, a pleasant conversation with the hostess, and a home-cooked breakfast. When you go, say hi to Nelyza for me!

Neliza was super friendly and accomodating, she even cooked me a dinner on my first night as I arrived late.

“Not worth the money for us”

Nelly is a lovely lady and her family were friendly. She offered us juice and smoothies on our first few days, even sharing her family food. She was a helpful host and would lend you anything. Unfortunately, the place is tired and has lost it’s shine. The rooms and communal areas were not that clean and our room smelt bad.

“Welcoming guest house with caring madre to look after you during your stay”

Nelly was the most welcome "madre" - she had dinner prepared for me when I arrived late and made delicious breakfasts that also suited my need for gluten free. She was warm, welcoming, and willing to help with anything I needed. I even fell ill during my time on the island and needed an urgent place to stay my last night, and she welcomed me back with open arms. I felt like I had a home away from home. The Starlink internet connection was excellent and enabled me to work remotely when needed, too. Very few places on the island have good internet, so this was a real bonus (even though in the Galapagos, it is better to remain disconnected and enjoy! :))

“Everything I needed and more!”

Nelyza is a wonderful host. She shared her own meal with me when I arrived, arranged tours and ferry tickets for me, lent me a bike to ride into town and use when ever I wanted. Room was large with a kitchen area that I didn't use and an OK bathroom with a good hot shower. There is also starlink wifi which worked well.

Nellyza’s place is fantastic. The host Nelly is a gem! Her husband Claudio is very friendly and helpful too. It is a quiet place. The room is spacious and the bed is comfy. You can use the kitchen and the fridge. There is always coffee and drinkable water, cold and hot, available. The breakfast is yummy. Very good communication and recommendations by the host. And last but not least the wifi has an excellent connection An overall A+++

“Confortable, quiet with a wonderful host who makes your stay special.”

We liked that the accommodation was in a quiet area of Santa Cruz & a short 15 min walk to town. Very safe to walk around at night too. The best part of our stay has to be the hostess herself - Nelly. She is so warm and welcoming and makes a different, and very tasty, breakfast every day. Her husband, Claudio, also a gent, drove us to the port for our tour which was unexpected and kind of him. Nelly helped when booking trips and gave advice on economical options if you’re on a budget. The room itself was clean, simple with comfortable beds, a bathroom and a kitchenette. Air conditioning if you need it. Nelly was a wonderful host and we would recommend staying here when visiting Santa Cruz. We even came back to stay a second time after a couple of nights on Isla Isabella. That says it all. Thanks for everything Nelly!

“Good value, not in tourist area, away from the noise of the pier”

Nelly was a very accommodating host and took pity on us melting several times bringing us iced banana smoothies! Free bike rental was also great. Nellys family were also very helpful and friendly despite the language barrier.

Neliza was absolutely amazing. She washed my clothes for me without being asked on more than one occasion, made me a snack on arrival, gave me some amazing seafood pasta on another day and the best papaya I've ever tasted for breakfast. As other reviewers have said, she truly makes this place. Her advice on places to go and see that aren't a rip off was also amazing. If I come back to Puerto Ayora (or if anyone I know does), there's only one place to stay!!

Neliza is a very warm and welcoming host. I felt right at home. She helped me with my plans for the island, and it was very convenient that I could use the bike to go around town.

The most thing I enjoyed was Nelyza herself. She is so kind, friendly, helpful! She made my stay at Galapagos complete!!

Nelly is an amazing host and will make you feel like family. Her husband and dog are great as well. The hostel itself is located a bit outside the center, but still easily and quickly reached by foot. If you need anything or would like to do certain activities, Nelly and Claudio are happy to help. The host was so accommodating and friendly. She made the stay a dream. The hostel is beautiful too. It is a bit far from the town but you can use the bikes at the hostel for free so it's nice to be able to be in the busy city if you like but also enjoy the quiet side if you prefer.

Very sweet host! Offers you help with everything you need! Kitchen, great rooms, comfy beds, clean showers and free bikes to use (just be careful that the brakes work)

“Best host in Puerto Ayora”

I cannot stress how important is a good host and what influence they have on your entire vacation. Nelyza was simply a delight! She was caring, informative, friendly, and more than willing to help at all times. The place is located a bit further up town, about 15-20 min walk from the promenade and center, and Nelyza chased me time and time again to give me a scooter ride even when I said it was not necessary she insisted, and it was of course very helpful at times, especially when I had early morning tours to embark on. She had asked me to join her for coffee, she offered to take me around the island and was extremely helpful with holding my luggage for free when I was spending a week in another island. The room was very very large and spacious. There was a huge mineral water bottle and it meant I didn't spend my money on water. The room was cleaned daily, I had lots of towels. A Great homestay away from home.

“Really helpful host - like having a personal travel agent”

Exceptionally helpful host (Nely) for advice amd tours. It was like having our own travel agent! Part of the problem on the Galapagos is there is too much choice - so this was invaluable: She suggested which tour companies to use and how much they would accept (eg $30 when company initially suggested $50 and all other gringos paid $35+) She even managed to buy us next day inter-island ferry tickets when everyone we spoke to at the port said they'd sold out (she managed to find someone with returns) Organised a taxi tour for 1/2 rate we'd have paid for official tour & at time to suit us. Told us of last minute offers being circulated by tour companies. Free bikes available were of decent quality and sizes. Had selection of large sun hats to borrow. Think had free masks/snorkels (we brought our own) Galapagos is expensive, but Nely helped us feel we were not over-paying.
