A nice basic room in the center of town. Mendes family was super nice - they prepared me breakfast every morning and also did a round of loundry for me.

Lovely easy stay in a family home with 2 bathrooms at the Plateau. Everything is close, eateries and Line 20 Bus to Airport (Yes, it exists and starts on the other side of Papelaria Academica). They also have a cat which is a big asset.

“Great location and value”

I didn't stay at the homestay but was moved to Mendes Guesthouse because of some last-minute family issues. This review is about that guesthouse. Central location in Plato. Hot showers. Room layout was thought out well. It had everything I needed, like electric outlets by the bed and a fan. I could leave my luggage when I arrived in the morning, after arranging in advance. Owners spoke good English. Great value.

Early check in and late check out

I spent only one night at the Mendeses. They are really warm and welcoming and their apartment really is at the heart of the city. It's a great stay for solo travelers and I believe I will be back once again in Praia. Also Maia their cat is so funny how she demands to be petted 😸

Friendly host Suelly. She allowed us to stay the house till night on the departure day (due to huge delay of the flight). Location is at the center of city of Praia. There are a lot of restaurants near by.

“Worst stay ever - door was closed, had to relocate at 10pm”

Worst « stay » ever, I showed up at the door and it was closed, NOBODY. I had to book another hotel at 10pm in emergency. And despite numerous messages and informations exchanged 10 days before, they were not able to handle the booking. Thanks for this great introduction to Cabo Verde

The Mendes family is very nice and easy to communicate with. Their place is amazing for a short stay, you’ll get your room and shared bathroom. The environment is very friendly and you’ll get quick answers to your questions. Everything you need is close and easily accessible by walk. Will definitely stay again when I return to Praia.

The couple who own the flat are really kind and helpful, such a sweet family. The bedroom is comfortable and clean and they prepared me a good breakfast. They also helped answer all the questions I had about the area and organised a taxi for me from the airport. Extremely good value!

Very cute and lovely family! Immediately felt like at home. Suuuuper comfortable bed. All good. I had to leave early to the airport so she even prepared me some breakfast to take with me.

Very nice family, great location.

Location is good, right next to 5 de Julho pedestrian street. It's possible to find by yourself (even without the sign) - just follow the geotag, you will see the Medical building and you need the door #13 (as on the picture next to the #11 Medico). People are nice and quiet, Suely speaks a very good English. Also there is good wifi signal. You can make a coffee or tea at the kitchen and ask for a breakfast. I would say it's a good option for couple nights if you came not for all night partying. What was nice - there are earplugs in case if for you street noise is a problem (not for me, but it was nice)
