Charming, homely, warm, hospitable, convenient grand old home. Highly Recommended

The home was so beautiful and charming, it felt so homely and welcoming. Roger was an amazing host and there were lots of little extras that made it such a wonderful place to stay - Chocolates, gluten free options for cereal, board games, port and wine, a gorgeous sitting room to relax in. The home was also just a short walk to supermarkets, pubs and restaurants.

Host was great. Easy going and happy to chat and help. Breakfast was great. Very good location and a large room which was also great as the weather was disgusting, so we spent more time in our room than usual on a holiday. We stayed 3 nights and met some lovely fellow travellers over breakfast .

Historical interest

It was a house full of history and worked well for an overnight stay. We were welcomed after arriving quite late due to travel delays.

Best accommodation in Portland

The rooms are so spacious and have the most amazing furnishings. The bed was super comfortable. Had a great night sleep. The old traditional bath was so nice. Great for an end of day soak and relax.

Exceptional

Absolutely everything about this accommodation was excellent from check-in to check-out. Roger (owner/operator) was very easy to talk to and was also able to answer all my questions about the property. Our room and ensuite were great with a good shower and spa bath - just as the photos depicted. Although no off-street parking, as we were on motorbikes Roger allowed us to bring them into the property via the garden park, making us confident they were safe and secure. Breakfast the next morning was perfect, with many options available. The honesty fridge had a good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic options that were reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend this property for any couples.

Charming old House that was comfortable and excellent value for money. The breakfast is a Plus.

House was 112 years old and very large as were the rooms. The house was in very good condition for it's age. A few cracks here and there but that is to be expected in such an old house. The decor was representative of its age and was charming. Bed was excellent and you have the freedom to move around in the guest areas of the house. Wi-Fi was good and we streamed Netflix with no issues. We had the breakfast supplied in the dining room and it was good value for money and was excellent. The Host Roger was very friendly and gave us a brief summary of the History of the house and it's decor.

Stylish, and comfortable, period home with a welcoming and gernerous host at very reasonable rates.

A stylish and authentic period home with an interesting history. Roger the owner was a very welcoming and generous host with a breakfast with a range of options included in the cost. In addition the rooms are very reasonably priced given their quality and the beautiful location near the marina which also has an excellent restaurant. The stay surpassed our expectations. I mentioned to Roger I was keen to watch the Matildas game and he thoughfully had the TV left on in the sitting room, so we could view the game when we returned from the restaurant. In addition there was a "honesty box" so we could enjoy a Port while we watched the game ! I very much hope we can stay again - just for longer !

Roger is the friendliest host we've met at any accommodation we've booked on this site! He has a wealth of knowledge about the region's history, geography and more... Our room was spacious, the bed very comfortable. Roger offered to cook us breakfast but we opted for espresso, müesli and fruit. It's also a short walk into town to restaurants or the supermarket.
