I'm not a fan of self checkins. It makes me feel that the host doesn't care about their clients and is unable to communicate directly other than requesting messages.

Clean and comfy

“Great stay, clean, good value and communication”

Char’s place was a great stop for us for a couple of nights. It was very clean, had all amenities, Char’s communication was great and very helpful. The only thing I would say is that you can hear everything in the common area from the bedroom.

Char’s Landing is well located in one of the main streets of Port Alberni. Very close to coffee shops, brewery and we were able to attend a production of the local theatre company just across the road! It is a very clean space with a well equipped shared kitchen. It’s also very secure. There is parking available on site.

“Cosy little hostel”

A nice and welcoming hostel, despite how affordable it actually is, kitchen and bathroom very clean, really friendly and helpful owner, who obviously likes the idea of hosting (mostly) young people traveling on a budget. It was a great stay!

Location was great. It was cozy and the beds were very comfortable. It was very clean and lots of blankets and pillows available for extra comfort. Loved the little common Tv room area, very inviting.

The property feels homey. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking, and both the bed and shower were comfortable. Char was very welcoming and did her best to make us feel at home. There were also plenty of towels available, along with free shower supplies left behind by other guests.

Char was able to take us last minute and kindly open up a room so that we would have somewhere comfortable to stay with our dogs before doing a multi day backpacking trip. She was fantastic and the property was perfect for what we needed.

I staying Char's Hostel when I stay in PA every time. She is very friendly and everything in there what I need. I will come back again for sure!

Perfect place for a big family

Char (host) was super friendly and helpful. It had everything you needed; fridge, cooking appliances, good showers, comfortable bed. For the price you are getting more than what you are paying for!! Highly recommend and will be staying again when passing through Alberni:)

Best price, washing machines on site. Free parking, easy to find.

We arrived at Char's Landing Hostel slightly later than we'd intended but that was perfectly alright because we had instructions to get in. Wifi code even written on the outside of the door in case we had no data! Hostel is beautifully presented - looks like someone's home. Lovely conversation with other guests inside the hostel. Good kitchen facilities. Washer/dryer available. Bunk beds in private room but that was fine, and they were comfortable. Quiet area. Would I recommend? Yes. Would we stay again? Definitely!

Charlene is a very nice person, the place is very comfortable, clean and easy access. We really enjoyed staying there. Highly recommended! I hope back soon!!!

Char was a wonderful host and a very humane person, full of kindness. Not only did she book me a lower bunk at my request, but she was kind enough to invite me over to a concert she was having that evening.

Easy breezy check in. Felt safe and secure.

We found it perfect for an overnight stop between Tofino and Nanaimo. Best of all, the host is warm and welcoming, instantly making you feel at home.
