“Great family holiday in a lovely resort.”
Staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. Very nice resort, lovely pool and bar area. Great beach. Always sunbeds available. Very good variety in the buffet. Kids enjoyed the entertainment and kids club.

“Good stay 5 nights”
The staff were all very kind and hard working. There is a lot of choice in the buffet room. The pasta station in the buffet room was good and generally offered a good selection especially for kids. Concepcion in the breakfast buffet was very nice and polite as was the girl in the egg station. We tried the oriental restaurant one evening and it was very good but portion size was a bit on the small side. The mattress and pillows in the room were comfortable and the bedding was clean and nice. The pool was nice but on sunny and warm days it quickly got busy so we would go to the beach instead as plenty of space - it is a beautiful beach. I agree with the hotel in not allowing people to take food to the beach, soon the birds would make a mess and it would be unpleasant. There were always plenty of security personnel about in the beach and hotel areas which was reassuring because we never felt our belongings would be taken should we leave them in the chair unattended for a bit. The reception staff were never pushy with their timeshare sales and were friendly and helpful. We never got to try the activities (kayak etc) on the beach because we had bad weather at the beginning of our stay so I cannot comment on that. The hotel has a sister property (Maya) a 5 min walk away, we went there one night for our evening meal at the Mexican restaurant which was very good, the waiters there were very nice, here the portion size was pretty big. Overall having looked at the two resorts I am pleased I chose Azteca as it was more suitable to our needs (we wanted a smaller quieter resort with a nice beach and not too far from the airport). The Maya resort seemed louder and a lot more busy with more guests/groups and more entertainment. My daughter loved seeing the wildlife in the resort (agoutis). Handy that a short walk away within the Playacar gated community you can find souvenir shops and an Avis Car rental booth which was great because we rented a car there to further explore.

“I enjoyed every minute of my stay and look forward to my return next Fall.”
A hurricane hit while we were there. The staff was amazing. They prepared the facility quickly and the following evening the property was clear of sand and fallen tree branches. By the evening we were back in the pool.

“Amazing hotel, I highly recommend this place”
Everything about this place was amazing, beautiful hotel, beautiful room, beautiful swimming pool and beach. Staff is so friendly, I was impressed. We tried the oriental restaurant, it was good. I did not get the chance to book the mexican one cause it seemed to be a busy one, and it was fully booked. The buffet is good but after a while it seems like you always eat the same food so make sure to book at least one restaurant for a change (in my case we also eat out of the resort now and there so it was fine). In the morning, there was no bacon or sausages for breakfast. For me, it's okay, but my british boyfriend did not like that, haha. I would say it's expensive but it's probably the most beautiful hotel that I've been to. The service was the best and the Italian manager was very nice.

Food could be better. We had a bad experience with toiletries disappearing from our room in several occasions. We reported this to the staff, but their only feedback is that they would report it internally. At the hotel there are people (both hotel staff and external companies) that keep hammering on to make you book trips or experiences. It's somewhat overwhelming and it makes you feel chased. After checking prices through websites for the same experiences, we found that what was being offer at the hotel was overpriced at times. It's better to organize all tours / activities in advance and book directly online

“good hotel for adults only”
I absolutely love the hotel ,I have always had since coming here 10 years ago . Our kids love the pool and the beach so clean ,they tried to keep the sargassum to a minimum. the buffet and the staff in the restaurant all always so welcoming
