“We knew the drill. The trade offs are worth it for the location and the huge yard and pool -but get”

This was our second stay. 1st time 2024. You need to find a desk person that relates to you and you can obtain good service. It was the woman at the computer who helped us a lot. They are not all nice. They don't have enough English customers -thus you need Google translate -- which has improved immensely and makes it doable. The hotel is now owned by the Government and there is a lot of disrepair. I had to utilize my relationship to upgrade to an air conditioned, repaired room --made a big difference -I knew going in that I would need help to obtain one as they were in limited supply and booking.com had none available even early.In fact, had to wait few months before Jan-Mar even opened on their site. Large Pool and gardens are terrific. There is a heated indoor pool as well. The gym is terrible if you want to do anything resembling a work-out which is really inadequate for a place like that. However, I did find a good gym up the road which was quite reasonable in cost (?Perfil?). Breakfast is typical Uruguayan --which means eggs (sometimes cold because they don't keep the burners lit), some fruit, various rolls and bread, fake juice and lousy coffee --with a charge if you want a specialty coffee which aren't that great either. It has a great location and alchemy history.

Nice architecture from the 30s, the facilities show their age. The lack of air conditioning was worrying but that same architecture with very high ceilings and ceiling fans meant it was pleasant even during a heatwave.

Location is amazing beautiful beach 15min walk and u cover the hole bay front road all restaurants and bars. Prices in restaurants vary but if u check you can find some good set menus. Will come back again but definitely not stay at this hotel.

I feel ripped off. I paid 115 USD per night. The rooms have no heating, everything is literally from 1930 without any sort of renewal or update. This means that the doors and windows are old, wind blows through, and the rooms are freezing, and also no heating... so imagine... Breakfast is a also a joke in comparison to what you get in other hotels for the same price. Basically, I'd be happy to pay probably 40-50 or maybe even 60 USD (considering the 'pictoresc' environment), but not 115 USD per night. Some of the staff were great, others, quite 'not-customer' oriented. Definitely not coming back.

Great breakfast, good location. Accessibility of the heated swimming pools until 21:00.

Beautiful architecture, historic property. Must have been luxurious half a century ago, it’s a pity it’s fallen into disrepair and standards have slipped.
