“Exceptional”

Absolutely loved our stay! The place was spotless, beautifully maintained, and felt incredibly comfortable from the moment we arrived. The staff was warm, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. The location was perfect — peaceful yet convenient to explore nearby attractions. The food, ambience, and overall experience exceeded expectations. Every little detail was thoughtfully taken care of, making the stay feel special and memorable. Would definitely come back again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay!

This accommodation offered a truly unique experience. The facilities are a bit older, but still perfectly sufficient and comfortable for a short stay. What really stood out was the staff – they were extremely kind, helpful, and easy to communicate with, which made everything smooth and pleasant. A highlight of this place is its location: several times a day, elephants pass directly below the windows, and you can enjoy watching them either from the balcony or by the river. It’s an unforgettable experience. The on-site restaurant offers tasty food at very reasonable prices, which we really appreciated.

It’s nice to see the elephant from the balcony of our room. Note that those elephants come from the Orphanage and most of the elephants have chains :-( the employees were nice.

The attentive and helpful staff. They are professional and always there to help. Spotless clean and spacious room and restroom. A/C and fan work well and it's very quiet at night.

The location is amazing as it is just 50 meters from the elephant bathing site and all elephants pass through this road, which is a site to behold! We could see elephants from our balcony. The room was very spacious and clean.

This may be a simple place, but the warmth and service received make it stand out. The cleanliness was excellent, breakfast was enjoyable, and any assistance we needed was given with a smile. For the price paid, it was fantastic value. Sometimes it’s not about luxury; it’s about how you’re treated, and here we were treated very well. Shout out to the wonderful Padma always having a genuine smile when giving assistance, & Shan. What made the stay truly special was the location — it’s on the street where the elephants walk past every day on their way to the river, morning and afternoon. Seeing them pass by together & sometimes separately was such an incredible & unforgettable experience. For the price paid, it exceeded my expectations, and I’m so glad I chose to stay here.

The room was good. It was clean, the bed was huge air-conditioning was great and best of all was the elephants. They really do come past straight under tour balcony and going to watch them bath in the river is a 1 minute walk. Loved the experience

It was a good place for the price! From the balcony you can see the elephants walking by, but you cannot see the river (bathing area) itself. Staff is very friendly. Amenities were okay - all what you need (towel, toilet paper, a kettle, 1 small bottle of water, 1 hand soap). You will need to bring your own shampoo, conditioner etc. If you are looking for a budget hotel, this is the right place. It is very close to a much more pricey hotel (better view), which has great view. So you can stay in Elepath Lodge, and dine across the road. Shopping (souvenirs, clothes) are right downstairs.

We had a wonderful stay at Elepath Lodge Pinnawala! The location is perfect—just a short walk to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and Zoo, which made our trip even more enjoyable. The staff provided excellent service throughout our stay and made us feel truly welcome. The Sri Lankan breakfast was delicious and served with genuine warmth and happiness, which added a special touch to our mornings. We booked a double room with a balcony, and it was very comfortable, clean, and relaxing—perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. Overall, Elepath Lodge offered us great hospitality, a convenient location, and a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Pinnawala!

“Comfortable stay”

The location is perfect to watch elephant bathing for free. We came just on time by 2 pm and you get to see so much. You could also walk to the zoo, shops and elephant orphanage, it's located in a convenient place. I have put up a photo of the view from the balcony when elephant passed. The room is clean and comfortable, also big in size. The bed is probably the comfiest for me out of most hotels we stayed at. The staff is also so friendly and helpful.

When I was choosing a place to stay on Booking.com, I looked at reviews from people who had stayed there. And I wasn't wrong. These were my most wonderful days on the island of Sri Lanka, as the host was very friendly and responsive. He helped me with all my questions. The room was my temporary wonderful home. Everything was so perfect that I didn't even want to leave, as if I were staying with old good friends. I will definitely return and recommend this guesthouse to everyone with all my heart. Thank you very much to the hosts for their hospitality and kindness.

A basic room but comfortable. Breakfast was omelette and toast with juice. The elephants walk past as you have breakfast.
