Got upgraded and the Suite was beautiful as was the hotel itself. Location of hotel was unbeatable and was very convenient to explore the main street and side laneways. The staff was helpful and the complimentary pick up and drop off service at reailway station was appreciated.

The Pingyao Water Hotel is at an excellent location. It’s on the main North / South Street a few meters away from the massive South Gate where one can gain access to the old city wall to walk on, near a park just outside the ancient city, and a very short walk from where the 20:00 and 22:00 light shows are projected. There are plenty of shops and restaurants near the hotel, and it shares the location with Luckin Coffee where one can order something delicious to drink and where one actually sits to have the hotel’s breakfast in the morning. There is a ticket stand a few meters from the hotel where one can purchase an entry ticket for the many temples and museums and points of interest scattered all over the ancient city. Th staff are helpful and friendly. The hotel is spotlessly clean and calm from the hustle and bustle of the city street on the outside. My friend and I opted for two of the upstairs tatami bedrooms and felt well rested and relaxed having spent a few nights there. I plan on returning to Pingyao some time in the future, and I will be staying here again.

Central location on main street, yet the rooms were so quiet. The rooms were large and very comfortable. Pingyao is an amazingly preserved walled city. They met us outside the wall and helped us with our luggage. Rated 11/10

“Beautiful stay in Pingyao”

We had a brief stay at Water Hotel in Pingyao. We had a very silent room on the first floor, very spacious, clean, and tasteful. Staff was very helpful for all our requests, and we really appreciated the car service to/from the railway station, with the driver helping us with our luggage till the hotel door. There is an inner space as well in the hotel where you can relax a bit. Location is perfect as you are in one of Pingyao ancient city’s main streets, however as previously said our room was facing the backyard hence very silent and we slept well. We paid ca. €115/night which is on the upper side for Chinese hotels, we were expecting good service and were not disappointed.

The friendly staff explained everything very clearly to us upon arrival regarding the sights to see. The hotel is located in the heart of the historic city and offers a very delicious Chinese breakfast (highly recommended), the Western breakfast is also good :-).

Very nice and stylish traditional hotel in the old part of town. The staff is very helpful and we appreciated their service of pick up and drop off from the train station. We loved visiting Pingyao between Beijing and Xi’an and we highly recommend it.

The Water Hotel was lovely - we were upgraded to a beautiful suite room which was much appreciated and the staff were informative on arrival. The location couldn't have been more central and the pick up service at the station was great. All in all, a great stay and great value for money. Thank you!
