I love that the property was very central, I was in walking distance to lots of fast food and lots of shopping -Literally. The Cleaning ladies were really nice even though they didn’t speak any English and so were the persons working front Desk

I travelled with 3 friends and let the reception know we would arrive late because we were coming from costa rica by bus. Called again around 5pm to confirm the time of the bus arrival to panama city, which would be around 2am, they said "all good, reception is open 24h". We arrived and the receptionist had a smile on his face "so, we sold your room". After nearly 24 hours on the road we couldn't believe what we were hearing. "We told you we would arrive late you said there was no problem", he answered that we said 2am and it was 2:32am. He was clearly triggered by our reaction, because he expected us to comply to paying way more than agreed beforehand for a "new" room. Finished with "We don't want your money and we don't have a room for you. You can leave, the door is open". Never had such a bad experience in an accommodation before, he literally kicked out 4 girls at 3am on a Saturday night - the streets were filled with drunk people and we had to walk around completely exhausted knocking on doors trying to get a place to sleep. Which was not easy. Definitely do NOT recommend this place - zero empathy, zero humanity. Just like he said "this is business" and that's all it is, they only care about that.

“Hotel worth its price”

A huge room with a panoramic view of the entire city. Friendly staff. Overall, the best hotel out of the five I stayed in in Panama

“Good but not great”

The location overlooks a monument commemorating the fallen firefighters of "El Polvorín" a massive explosion on May 5, 1914. The area is old and run down, but authenticly Panamanian. While it looks rough and tourists should always exercise caution, the area has many street markets, "colourful" bars and clubs, and abundance of small grocery shops and so, so many barbers. Nightlife is for the more adventurous travelers. Room 603 had good wifi and overlooked the Plaza.

“Great value for the money”

This is a good option for a cheap late night arrival. Staff was friendly and accomadating. Location was close to the water and the old city.

Everything bi the smell of mold in the room. But the goid aircon makes it possible. It looks more trash in real.

Absolutely nothing. It’s stank of mold and urine. And today I have a very bad headache , temperate and cough.

“You get what you pay for”

This was our 2nd time staying here. We booked and got the price of $15 for 3 nights, which seems to be a error the receptionist said when we arrived. Since it was not our fault he still give us the price we had booked, which was so nice of him. Due to the location of the hotel and the fact that the metro is walking distance we like this hotel.

“Good location if you are walking to Panama Viejo but the room needs updating”

The location was close to the old town. The neighbourhood was absolutely fine but would not feel the same at night. The roof terrace gave a view. The lift was handy being allocated a room 512. The bed linen was clean The a/c worked

“Run down hotel - Not recommended”

The room is cheap. The aircon worked and I didn”t get bedbugs. Due to urgent work that needed to be done,& no time to move somewhere else, I actually stayed an extra night after getting the friendly cleaning lady to sweep up (most of) the hairs left by previous occupants.

The staff were kind ( even though we don't speak Spanish) 24/7 reception was good Water available to buy on the property

“FANTASTIC OPTION FOR A SHORTER OR LONGER STAY IN THE CAPITAL AREA. Almost within UNESCO WHS area.”

Fantastic place almost right in the front of the UNESCO OLD TOWN AREA - You can walk for about 15 minutes or take a taxi or public bus/coach. We spent only 1 nights in our (European) wintertime while transitting, and both the room and the whole area exceeded our expectations as it was unusually tidy, comfortable, spacious, with some kind of "colonial feel" to it. All basic, but necessary items were inside - TV, aircon, small fridge, cleaning gel, shampoo and so on. Our little one was so happy to look at the TV or simply run through the corridors. The place is so welcoming. You can have Your own piece of mind or You can meet and chat with other travellers. For both a longer stay or just a quick transfer in this paradise, look no further than REPUBLICA HOTEL`s gorgeous rooms. You can have some nice sightseeing/dining/drinking/shopping/walking opportunities in the area as well. Buses plying the streets (PLUS AIRPORT METRO - another super option!!!) in both directions are easily avaiable just on the other side of the street which is anther great deal - the same apllies to the shops with beer, chicken and coke just downstairs in the big bazaar area. Nobody can beat both the service and warm hospitality of this place (PLUS the price in the whole of the capital)!!! What we loved the most is that the 5mayo station is wakable and we were able to go with the metro everywhere. Which was the reason why we chose this hotel. Casco Viejo is not far and we were able to walk to there at night also. So you get what you pay for. If you are on a budget i would recommend. The neighborhood was oki, looks sketchy but we felt safe.

That it is in a very convenient area close to everything. Transport, train station, supermarkets etc. And there's the presence of security and police. They even have a Atm at the entrance.
