“Relaxing overnight stop on our way home to the UK”

Very pretty location, friendly and helpful staff, enjoyed a very nice dinner. If you are traveling to or from the UK via Calais it’s a great stopper offering good access to the autoroute and excellent parking.

“Overrated hotel but with excellent restaurant”

The hotel is beautifully located next to a river in a charming, lively small town. The restaurant is very good. Our room was large with the river literally outside the window.

This is the third time we have stayed at Bel Ami. The first time, in 2022, our stay was exceptional. The hotel was well maintained and the staff were very welcoming. The highlight of our stay was the warm ambience in the restaurant and exceptional service from the manageress who recommended a lamb shank dish to my partner (the dish was reserved for guests staying at the hotel) and it was exquisite. Our second visit in 2024 was a complete disappointment. The outside of the hotel was shabby, there were weeds growing in all of the planters, and the staff were disinterested. Our room and the bed was still clean and very comfortable. However, our evening in the restaurant was an expensive disappointment. The service was poor and there was clearly antagonism between the young waiting staff and the chef (the kitchen is open). Guests were also expected to order their dessert when ordering their starter and main course! Not what you'd expect from a 4 star restaurant and hotel. We were a little reluctant to return but as the location of the hotel is brilliant, a stop on our way to Le Shuttle, we decided to give it a final chance. Thankfully the exterior of the hotel had been repainted so it looked brighter. The weeds in the planters had been replaced though in October what had once been flowers had clearly gone over, and it would have looked far brighter with geraniums during the summer and the chrysanthemums which are abundant in France in the autumn. The staff were much more welcoming (though at check out I had to go and find someone as they reception had a group of people wanting to check in or out with no staff to be seen). Although we chose not to eat in the restaurant, it had been dressed for the evening service and looked as welcoming as it had the first time we visited. The local town of Pacy-sur-Eure which is on the same road as the hotel, is lively and has a choice of restaurants and bars. Even on Sunday morning there were many places open.

“Perfect location”

This was my second stay at this hotel. I stayed in August for one night to break up a long drive to Cherbourg where I was getting a ferry to Dublin. I immediately rebooked for the return leg 2.5 months later. Stunning bedroom, ground floor with huge outdoor terrasse. Wonderful, welcoming staff, very comfortable bed. Great location with ample parking

Excellent location on the river and we had a decent room. They say they have an EV charger, but it turned out to be a two pin plug which charged at six mph

We enjoyed the stay at this hotel. We had a very spacious room as well as a wide bed (1.6 metres). Everything was clean. The hotel also has a restaurant which serves very nice meals. As there aren't any real options nearby I recommend to at least reserve for the first evening and to take it from there.

The room was comfortable with the unexpected bonus of a small private terrace, which was delightful. We booked the restaurant for dinner and it was of exceptional quality - absolutely superb!

This hotel was really great, it is an easy drive from Monet’s garden and the setting was beautiful. Parking was on site and the restaurant was fantastic

We have stayed at this hotel multiple time. Location is great by river, nice for an outside drink or meal on terrace or garden. Excellent restaurant Nice to have some outside space with a standard room downstairs. We had the accessible room 3, facilities good although maybe tight for space with a large wheelchair

Typical French breakfast , as you would expect , with lovely yogurts . Typical French small town with few restaurants that open for dinner .
