“If you’re driving through the centre of France this is a must to visit”

A really rural location, a family run enterprise off the beaten track with generous huge rooms and incredibly good food thanks to the Michelin starred chef and his team of young international chefs.

Staff was very accommodating and catered for all our needs. Superb and quirky property.

Accidentally booked this Chateau D'Origny near Roanne rather than the one we wanted near Nevers and it was too late to change before we realised the mistake our friends had made when doing a joint booking. We arrived mid-afternoon on a Sunday, just as lunch was finishing. It smelt wonderful. Such a shame then that the restaurant was closed on a Sunday evening, meaning we'd have to venture out by car to somewhere else. All that being said, the place is charming and unusual. Bought to stock the contents of many years of collecting fine furniture by the Belgian owners, this place oozes charm. The fabulous welcome from all the staff made up for us missing the chance to eat there. As we were nearly 2 hours away from where we needed to be Monday morning, they kindly agreed to serve breakfast an hour early at 7am - and WHAT A SPREAD. Huge quantities of bread, pastries and other snacks which proved too much to eat - so they boxed it up for us to eat for lunch! There are only 5 bedrooms, but there are huge and beautifully furnished with all kinds of memorabilia. Massive bathroom, with original tomette tiles and deep bath. Comfy seating area and massive bed. Really worth a detour... just not as much as we did! :)

Really exceptional decor, just wonderful wacky ‘Colonial suite’ with fascinating antiques. Delicious dinner, excellent staff. Very expensive but worth it.

Beautiful, well furnished chateau where you can have a one star Michelin dinner. Room was large, clean and there was even a jacuzzi in the bathroom. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

The room was superb - very big and well equipped.The chateau is beautiful.We had a wonderful evening meal - six course Michelin star style in a gorgeous dining room. The service from the staff and the owners was excellent. Breakfast beautifully presented. Very good value for money.

The food at this hotel was outstandingly good, both dinner and breakfast. We would stay there for the food alone! Location was a little disappointing but the room was beautiful, bed very comfy and we would not hesitate to stay there again. Definitely recommend as a stopover!
