Overview
Set in the university area, Hotel Garni VŠB is located in Ostrava, 6 km from the centre and within 9 km from ČEZ Aréna. The reception is opened for 24 hours. Very clean and comfortable - however this is NOT a hotel. This is student housing with one floor converted to house travelers as “guests”. You do NOT get a private bathroom, it is shared with another room. WiFi is also not easily accessible. That being said, the beds are very comfortable and the general space is very well kept.

It is a very convenient place to stay, particularly if you are in Ostrava for an academic visit. The breakfast variety is much more extended than before, particularly tiny cute pancakes :)

“It was a great experience; one good turn deserves another!”
The breakfast is good anyday. I will escape there ocassionally. The staff was friendly to me as a non-EU guest. The food is nice and healthy and filling.

This is not a hotel, but a regular student dormitory. Breakfast is very poor. Absolutely not worth the money we paid

“Campus experience”
Clean, comfortable. Total university vibe - it's a hotel part of huge student house. Empty during summer, but I wonder how is it during academic year. Gives inmediate flashbacks from studying times, even reception ladies give "pani z dziekanatu" vibes :)

“Good for people visiting the university.”
It is 3 star hotel and they meet the expectations so nothing to say here but I'll put my recommendations anyway. I would suggest this hotel to people visiting the university. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, quiet and right in the middle of the university and easy to arrive from ostrava svinov train station. Breakfast was not great but again, since it is 3 star hotel it is acceptable.

Very very comfy beds and pillows, free and safe parking, good breakfast (but just don't wait something amazing, it's just university camp). Spacious room and private bathroom. Notice: we stayed at the start of august (school vacay) and it was very quite!

“A great hotel in Ostrava to stay and relax for travelers who are traveling in transit.”
We were transiting through the Czech Republic to Austria and this hotel in Ostrava was perfect for us as it was on the way. The hotel is located in a student dormitory, but was easy to find. We had a 2-room suite - comfortable, clean and tidy. Comfortable beds. The breakfast on the second morning was also good.
