Lovely location within easy reach of Nantes and Nantes-Rennes highway. Countryside setting and warm reception by Sophie. Service felt very personalised and preferable to a faceless hotel. Quiet. Easy to find. Animals in the paddock and pleasant outdoor seating in warmer weather. Breakfast excellent with homemade fayre (although an egg from one of the hens would have been lovely too) All in all perfect for us (even good choice of local restaurants for dinner - but maybe make a reservation ahead if you arrive at end day.)

Beautiful gardens for relaxing in with a glass of wine. Plenty of seating in various isolated spots overlooking the fields and animals .

The location was a delight and every effort was made in excessively hot weather to accommodate us comfortably in a cooler room. Breakfast was perfect with lots of attention to detail and the wishes of the guests. The room was perfect with access to an airy terrace. Excellent breakfast with home made produce.

Well beyond expectations. Beautiful property but more importantly the welcome from Sophie was very friendly. She was waiting for us on arrival. Showed us around. Asked about breakfast then left us to explore and enjoy this wonderful property. Upon waking our breakfast was waiting with wonderful fresh produce, hot coffee and little personal touches that always make things a little more special. The biggest compliment anyone can give is that they look forward to returning. We certainly do !!

I had a lovely stay. Starting from the the building, which is beautifully immerse in nature and very nice. The room was good size, clean, with beautiful view on the backgarden. The host, Sophie, was extremely pleasant, helpful and a delight to talk to. She was very attentive and has been available for any request. The breakfast was also very good. I would recommend to anyone to stay here, it's a wonderful place. 10/10

“A Charming French Countryside Retreat”

Le moulin de La Retardière was a place where you could truly feel the atmosphere of a French countryside village. We checked in after 5 PM, and it was a pity that we couldn't arrive earlier to enjoy the ambiance more. The couple, Sophie and Hubert, welcomed us warmly and introduced us to their horse named Moustache (Mustache). Sophie, like me, wasn't very fluent in English, but she tried her best to explain about the hotel and the surrounding area. Thanks to Sophie's guidance, we were able to have dinner at a nearby Italian restaurant with pizza and salad. That restaurant was the best value for taste among the places we experienced in France. The salad had almost half an octopus in it! The hotel's living room was very cozy with a lit fireplace, and we were able to enjoy a relaxing evening in a French farmhouse. In the morning, we breathed fresh air with a refreshing breeze and visited the ruins of a nearby castle. Sophie's daughter Margot also made French cookies for us, which was really kind. If I visit France again, I would like to stay here and experience more of this area.

Our host Sophie was so attentive to ensure we had everything we needed for our stay and gave us detailed information on where to go in Nantes. The room and view were faultless, we had a large ensuite which was of a high standard. We had a lounge area where breakfast was laid out ready for us at an agreed time. There were also facilities to make tea and coffee.

Tranquil setting with veranda overlooking countryside, sheep and chickens. Lovely breakfast and welcome . Very responsive host. Suggest using Sat nav to find location and take a picnic to fully enjoy location. We will be return.
