“A delightfully unusual home with stunning views of tree covered hills and close to all of Hakone”
As we were dependent upon public transport it was a little isolated. But the weather was good and we enjoyed our walks from the property. The bus stop is quite close by too.

“Cool villa with own hot spring spa outside”
Nice architectural villa located in nature in Hakone - close to a huge family onsen (Yunessun). The villa had all we needed and gave a homely feeling. We enjoyed the outdoor spa with hot spring water.

“Faded glory -- no longer amazing.”
This place was obviously amazing about 20 years ago. It would have had been AMAZING at that time. However, time has passed and it's been used for groups including camping groups(?) [There's notes pasted on various walls that seem to be written for boy scout groups]. This means everything is both dated and worn. The onsen itself was also a bit dingy, and the outdoor hot-tub clearly quite dated. Biggest tip: YOU NEED A CAR, unless you're happy to walk miles on busy (for Japan) roads, which is what we did. Luckily our luggage was fairly portable.
