Spectacular location, amazing and accommodating staff, wonderful food, best tea in Sri Lanka! We took the train from Badulla to Ohiya station and then a tuk tuk to Hill Safari - steep hill going down but so worth it. Spent 2 nights and hiked in Horton Plains and part of Pekoe Trail but could happily have spent a whole day sitting watching the spectacular changing views and drinking tea.

Stunning location, a real highlight of the trip. Great food, excellent hosts helped organise train tickets when we couldn't do it online, organised tuk tuks for Horton Plains National Park walk and packed lunches. Highly recommended, wish we had stayed for longer to relax and soak it up.

We like the hill!15min by tuktuk from Ohiya railway station. We have a morning hiking around the hill which is awesome! The hill view is amazing! The staff makes the best coconut roti and the tea is so good!

Views are fabulous. Nice 4km walk from station. Some very smart rooms, but we had a musty room down lower - we needed 2 beds. Food was fabulous and great half board deal.

“High quality stay with the best view”

The Hill Safari Tea Estate Villa was an exceptional two night stay while we walked the Pekoe Trail. The hospitality, warm welcome and attention to our needs was so greatly appreciated. I was welcomed with a pot of tea, grown on the Estate with cake and biscuits. After walking 31 kilometers that day, I drank 6 cups of tea with milk! The food was delicious and thoughtful of both a variety of local Sri Lankan dishes and not being too spicy. The view from the villa is expansive, impressive with beautiful sunrise. The manager was very helpful in educating us of the local fauna and flora, situated next to Horton Plains National Park and the local history of tea planting. It was a wonderful experience and we highly recommend this high quality stay.

It has the perfect view. Our balcony facing right at the valley. I would say it totally worth the cost given its view. Also, there aren’t a lot of mosquitoes because of the cold weather. Just make sure you don’t open the door/window during sunset time. The room we stayed located at the second floor and recently renovated. So the facilities are really new and clean.

Beautiful garden with amazing views. Food was incredible from their garden. Tea was also home grown.

Very nice hosts and staff. We were picked up at the top of the hill because the road is quote narrow. The food was excellent and the rooms were very comfortable with great views. We would have liked to stay longer!

Stunning views from this guesthouse- which has two fantastic architect designed rooms built to take advantage of them. The kindly hosts will give you detailed advice on multiple walks you can take from the property. A glorious place to stay very high in the tea country.

We received a very warm welcome with the most delicious tea and cakes on our arrival. Tea was also provided on request without additional charge. Our room looked out on the stunning tea plantations around us and there were plenty of birds to enjoy looking out of our enormous wall to ceiling patio windows. Wonderful local cuisine and ample portions at both breakfast and dinner which was very welcome after a long hike down Devil's Staircase and back!

“Relaxing Stay with Excellent Staff and Stunning Surroundings”

We had a really nice stay. The view was wonderful, the area was quiet, and the staff were very friendly. Dinner was good, and they even prepared a breakfast package for our early departure, which we really appreciated. The room was clean and comfortable

This was the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka. The location is spectacular, the food is great and the staff couldn't be more helpful.

“Incredible place to spend several days, delicious vegan food”

Hill Safari was a wonderful place. The food was delicious and the staff provided incredible and nutritious vegan meals for us. Highly recommend staying there a few days as there are beautiful walks (some parts of the Pekoe trail but also others) and it is a really lovely place to just relax in the hills. No mosquitos in evening so could stay out to watch the stars. The staff were amazing too.

“Miracle in mountains”

This place is a miracle in a heart of mountains. When you reach it you have wonderful views of both mountains and also plains in the south part of Sri Lanka. It is situated in a tea plantation. We had a very good dinner and breakfast there. Staff were very kind and helpful. This place is an ideal starting point if you want to be at Horton Plains early in a morning.
