Why come to Costa Rica and not stay at Eyal’s place? I arrived quite stressed, having messed up some travel plans, and within 5 minutes of arriving, all that stress had evaporated. Eyal is a wonderful, big hearted host. Once we had settled in, He had us driven down to the lake, with chairs, towels and beers and collected us a couple of hours later, thoroughly relaxed! Dinner was spectacular - by far the best meal we had in Costa Rica, and breakfast was great. Beds comfortable, rooms charming with a balcony overlooking Lake Arenal. Staying here, if only for one night, is an absolute must.

The food was amazing and there's nothing like Gingerbread anywhere. We had a balcony room and the view of the lake was so wonderful.

Dining and bar facilities, unfortunately closed Sunday and Monday, which meant no facilities for residents

Atmosphere food staff

We absolutely loved the cooler temperatures. Be prepared for a unique experience…the shower had ornate ceiling with plants growing inside and up above. Breakfast was served “family style” and the owner/chef engaged with his guests. The beds were very comfortable and everything was clean. Surrounded by lush forest!

Eyal is a culinary maestro and why you stay here. He endows the opportunity to the select few to taste his chef wizardy. Be prepared for tastes that exceed expectations but following his house rules. If you are looking for a civilised, staid dining experience go somewhere else. No compromises allowed either join the fun or else!

“Lovely characterful place with great food and friendly staff & owners.”

The food was excellent and the staff very friendly. In the morning they put out some fruit for the birds and loads of wonderful birds came to eat it which was a lovely show of local wildlife to enjoy over breakfast.

Great location overlooking the lake. Wonderful wildlife. Excellent staff. Super food. They even kept our leftovers for us to have for lunch the next day. No waste!

The breakfast was lovely and different each morning. It was so fresh with plenty of fruit and lovely coconut bread. It was lovely to have breakfast and watch the birds enjoying the fruit that is put out for them each morning. We also had dinner each evening and the menu was so varied and very international. Eyal is a fantastic host, he is a big character and is so welcoming to all guests. The food was absolutely incredible and we ate in each evening as we did not want to go out and miss his wonderful food. Truly outstanding flavours and quality. Such a beautiful setting. Our room was the jungle room and we loved the jungle theme decoration. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was great. We had a really good balcony overlooking the lake.
