We were so happy to come back to Ameland and the van Heeckeren hotel. The self-catering suites are beautifully designed, love the heated floors and the giant jacuzzi bathtub, and having the fridge & hob is amazing. The separate main hotel itself is closed during weekdays in winter time (like many island businesses) but we enjoyed the gorgeous breakfast buffet on the weekend, including proper coffee made by a barista. The young staff are very kind and helpful in responding quickly to questions. It's a luxury splurge but feels really justifiably lovely.
