Anchors Aweigh left us with a very good impression, starting from the communication before arrival. Before our stay, Kerry replied very quickly on Booking.com and answered our questions patiently. This was helpful for us as overseas travellers driving along the NSW South Coast for the first time. We arrived in Narooma quite late, about 8 pm, and it seemed to be a quiet off-season period. Kerry was still there waiting for us. After we arrived, he welcomed us in person, explained the house clearly, helped us carry our luggage upstairs, and showed us how to enter and leave the property at night. After a long day of driving, this was very much appreciated. The guest house has a lot of character. It is not a standard chain hotel, but a place where you can see the owner’s taste and care in many small details. The decorations, furniture and little arrangements around the house all felt thoughtfully chosen. The guest information folder was very detailed, but in a good way. It was not a list of restrictions telling guests what not to do. Instead, it explained many practical details, including how to use the facilities, what complimentary items were available, and how the house was arranged to make the stay more comfortable. At first it looked like a lot of information, but after reading it, we felt it was more like a thoughtful house guide than a set of strict rules. For self-drive travellers, the property is also very convenient. There is on-site parking, and the property felt safe and well managed. Our room had a pleasant balcony, and in the morning we realised we could even see the ocean in the distance. The location worked well for visiting Narooma Beach, Australia Rock and the seal-viewing area, all of which were only a short drive away. Breakfast was one of the best parts of the stay. There was a detailed form where we could choose our own breakfast items, mainly in the style of a full English breakfast.

This is an incredibly retro building that is a far cry from your traditional motel. From the moment you step inside, you'll be absolutely blown away. The hosts are clearly passionate about life, and the lobby is filled with their wonderful personal collections. The balcony in my room was exceptionally spacious—perfect for sitting quietly and taking in the ocean views. The breakfast was superb as well. I stayed just after Easter and found the parking to be very generous and secure. Plus, there are Tesla chargers available on-site, which was a huge bonus.

“Fantastic place, caring service and great value”

The location was great, very central. Kerry and Heather are extremely attentive and caring. The breakfast was delicious and served on the sunny deck. All things you needed were in the room, the bed was very comfy and we slept well. You could even see some of the ocean from the balcony! The style of the place is eclectic and interesting and cozy. We enjoyed it very much and would come back!

The accommodation is very unique, clean and comfortable . The views from our room were simply stunning! The location is great and the boardwalk is a must, we were lucky to see a stingray close up. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the stay was great value for money.

We absolutely loved our time at Anchors away BnB. It was wow! The hosts were incredibly welcoming, helpful, kind and hospitable. It was very comfortable, cozy, warm and homey. We loved all of the facilities and how thoughtfully the rooms were put together. The location was even better than we expected- and we enjoyed walking to the pubs, beaches etc. A real highlight was the lovingly prepared (and served) breakfast each morning. We loved our stay 🩵🌴 and look forward to staying again.
