Location is nice and close to the ferry terminal, restaurants and shops. Easy to catch the local bus to galleries. The host was very friendly and easy to talk to.

We loved this quirky home! Check-in was extremely easy - checking-out was the same (easy).. We were left a little food for the morning, and (although I'm not a big fan of sleeping on the floor) even the futons were comfy..

“A haven of tranquility”

Fantastic, quirky little house. Well equipped with nice little added touches. We loved everything about it! Coming from Tokyo it was a wonderful escape into nature and art culture, and the studio had was well located to enjoy everything g the island had to offer. Our host was wonderful, and always seemed to turn up like magic when we needed a helping hand (eg fathoming the washing machine and arranging luggage forwarding for us) She also recommend great cycle place to hire bikes from and we enjoyed 2 days leisurely exploring the island.

Lovely quirky house in a good location. You’re left to it but the owner provided breakfast and would pop in every day to check if we needed anything like towels etc.

“Cozy Gem”

A cozy place to call home for our days on Naoshima. The house was very quiet and extremely comfortable. It is beautifully designed and well maintained. I was a little worried about the beds, as you don't really see them in the photos, and my mother struggles sleeping on her hip on some beds. I am happy to report that the fold up foam mattress beds were very comfortable and easy to sleep in! We were also happy to experience the more Japanese lifestyle of transforming our living room into our sleeping space and putting it back again. We were here towards the end of January, so Naoshima was cold. We never felt cold in the living room/bedroom because the heater was fantastic! The staff at the hostel connected to this house were very kind and helpful, they gave us a tour of the house and provided a lovely selection of breakfast items for us. They also brought more breakfast items for us on the second day too. Fabulous location too as it is only minutes away from the port. Chichu Museum is a must and it was only a 25 minute from the house. There are some bike rentals close to the house too. Do not hesitate booking here. It is a gem of an accommodation on the island! It has great value, great comfort, great location and lots of care involved.

“Lovely island stay”

The location was perfect - near the port. The house and everything in it was ideal for a short stay on the island. We had everything we needed. It was warm and cosy. Its decor is very arty and quirky. The food provided for breakfast was perfectly adequate for our needs and we appreciated the nice coffee and jams.

It was great to have a whole House just for outselves, especially after sleeping in many tiny rooms in Japan. Everything we needed was inside. We liked the artsy vibe of the house.

“Warm, comfortable and great location”

Great location and extremely comfortable. The place is essentially one big room, but we all slept really well and the little kitchenette had a microwave, mini grill and hob so we were well covered on breakfast prep. Just round the corner from the ferry terminal and bike hire, with a 7 eleven and restaurants close by.

Very near the port and bus stops. Nice and clean lodge. The owner took care of our breakfast and towels daily, which was very kind. Very silent at night. Perfect bathroom facilities.

Location to port very good. The lady running was very kind and let us leave our bags and check in a bit earlier. The place was very spacious and comfortable and aircon did us well in summer.

Charming, quirky and very comfortable. Supplies for breakfast were very welcome. Very friendly staff and allowed us to drop our luggage off and then check in early. Great location for port and bike hire.

House was very spacious compared to other properties /hotels we had stayed in, in Japan. It was lovely to arrive to fresh fruit and bread too. We arrived to discover that most galleries would be closed the following day (after Golden Week), but our host immediately took action and drove us/picked us up from the Lee Egan gallery so we wouldn’t miss out. She could not do enough to make our stay comfortable. We loved the island and highly recommend Mrs Maroulla’s house.

“Lovely stay in Naoshima”

Lovely little house close to ferry terminal. Host was very nice and made us feel welcome. Breakfast toast, jams and coffee/tea were provided, a thoughtful touch. It s in front of a playground and our kids truly enjoyed it. To note, the beds are Japanese futon and we loved the experience.
