“My best experience in Sendai”
The ryokan feel. The well maintained garden. The huge room. The warm futon. The tea ceremony!

“One of a kind experience!”
Even for us (the Japanese guests), the whole experience was very special. Shortly after checking in around 9 pm, we were guided to his private tea house, where the owner kindly hosted a private tea ceremony for us. The property is surrounded by high walls. In Japan, homeowners like him typically would not open up their homes to travelers. One-of-a-kind experience!

“An increasingly rare opportunity to stay in a traditional Japanese house in a tucked away location - but don’t expect We”
Our host, Harue, was incredibly kind and thoughtful. After we arrived he performed a Japanese tea ceremony for us, in a separate building away from the main house. I don’t think we were brilliant students but it was an interesting experience. The house itself is spacious and in a peaceful position on the edge of woodland - it is set in secluded gardens, and many of the rooms are in traditional Japanese style. Harue allows full use of the kitchen and laundry facilities. For supplies there is a good value supermarket and 7-11 convenience store only about 5 minutes walk away.

The host was super kind and friendly. Although he didnt speak english and i dont speak japanese he made sure i was comfortable and had everything i needed. He offered a tea ceremony and it was really nice. The property is really beautiful and the room was warm and cozy. I will try to come again with my friends in the future.

“Traditional family estate”
The room was large, clean, and comfortable. The host, although speaking limited English, was superlatively hospitable and did his absolute utmost to guide us through the traditional tea ceremony. It was also so very appreciated that we were able to bring our pet!

“rustic, once in a lifetime tea ceremony experience with comfortable housing amenities.”
Very spacious house with wonderful views and a nice background garden. Furbished with a traditional tea house as well. Wonderful experience as the tea master host offers a traditional tea tasting ceremony (with instructions on etiquette)! The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Enjoyed the free parking, amenities, shower etc. Well furnished and kept. Host was very friendly and would offer to send us off. I enjoyed living with sliding doors, and literally visiting someone’s home.

“A lovely house, with a beautiful atmosphere and garden; the perfect place to experience Sendai!”
The house and room itself was beautiful, especially the garden. The host was very patient with me and my broken Japanese, answering all of my questions. Getting to experience a Japanese tea ceremony here was once in a lifetime!

“Culturally flavored homestay”
The host was very kind. He gave us an impromptu tea ceremony for free while teaching us the roles. He insisted on seeing us off in person. Meanwhile the house had nice gardens and large comfortable rooms. Almost like a ryokan. The wifi didn't work but that gives extra time to work on developing your kanji calligraphy (hehe).

“A must stay for anyone visiting sendai.”
The host was genuine and lovely. It's a family home/old tea house and the owner is very passionate about showing the traditions of a Japanese tea house. We expected a nice bed for the night in a Ryokan, but we also received an hour long tea ceremony all part of the very reasonably priced stay (£30 a night) It was lovely to experience and understand the process of a tea ceremony. It was equally wonderful to see the joy that a tea ceremony gave the host. His service was excellent and he made sure to be up early to make sure we left safely.

“Fine as a homestay but not as a real accommodation”
This place is great if you are looking for an authentic experience in a fancy Japanese house. The tea ceremony included in the stay is also a nice occasion to learn more about Japanese culture.
