Very good, I got a room upgrade for free unexpectedly. There is also a seafood market next to it, which is a great accommodation experience.

Great little hostel, our room was spacious and airy with two big windows as well as on suite facilties. There's a kitchen area for guests use, spotlessly clean, as is everything in Japan 🙂 A great place to stay

“A GOOD PLACE TO STAY FEW DAYS”

The location is very convenient, it's easy to get there from the station. Near to the sea. Also, the Miss in front desk is very nice and beautiful.

“Budget but comfortable & homey (low season in Jan)”

We thought Maguro Building would be the second best option from Why Kumano which was fully booked but it was just perfect for a transit 1N stay for our family who were moving from Shingu to Kii Katsuura to start the Omogotori-goe hike. We loved it! Perhaps it was low season in Jan, but we loved how quiet it was with our family of 4 occupying both triple rooms on 2nd floor where common kitchen, living & laundry was. It was most relaxing having access to a well equiped kitchen and large dining table to sit for breakfast. Laundry was relaxing in terms no transversing up/down to a different floor to keep watch. Because it was quiet with 2 other solo travellers upstairs, it felt like we had sole use of the kitchen & laundry facilities. Hostel type accommodation usually means shared bathrooms but Maguro has ensuites with each room which was great. Kumano Kodo & the surrounding towns like Shingu & Kii Katsuura are obviously a big draw for both international & domestic travellers and their prices show as well as limited choices. We thought Maguro was good value at this area of inflated prices and limited choices & would recommend it as a better choice for families to the Why Kumano.

The room was a little basic but it had all the facilities I needed. There was a Lawson just across the road, which was convenient. It was only a short distance from the train / bus station. The room was located next door to the tuna auction / market. Some people might be bothered by the noise but it wasn't a problem for me. In fact I enjoyed seeing and hearing the bustling activity.

Booked this hotel as a base to visit the Kumano shrines and the Nachi Waterfall. Lovely neighbourhood with lots of cats! Across the road from the fish market and the restaurants there served really good food. Rooms were big although a bit old. There was a common use kitchen!

Really value for money. Location was not that near the station but right across the street from the fish market. Restaurants at the fish market served really good food. Rooms were large.

Excellent location right in the middle of Kii-katsuura. The private rooms are spacious and feel cozy with an amazing view of the fish market. Staff were extremely helpful and attentive. In particular, we accidentally left behind some property in our room, and the staff took the time to contact us about it, and then mail it to our next destination on our Japan trip. Overall, staying at the hostel was an exceptional experience and I would highly recommend it.

Having access to a washing machine and dryer was really useful. Having a room with its own bath and toilet is always better than sharing facilities. Hanging space, small fridge and well appointed chargers and powerpoints were really handy. It is very close to a range of restaurants and 2 mins from a Lawsons.

Good location but close proximity to the tuna market meant it was noisy throughout the night and early morning even with closed windows. Easy check in and out and the shared kitchen area was good.

There is a big spider found in the room, when we go into the room. Due to no staff at the building where we stay, we are very panic, fortunately we met people who also stay the accomodation, they help to "kill" the spider.
