Overview
Overlooking Lake Mývatn, this camping site offers cottages with wooden floors, a private bathroom and a terrace. Krossdalur Golf Course is 500 metres away, and Reykjahlíd village is 1 km from the cottages. A seating area, flat-screen TV and kitchenette are featured in some units at Hlíd Cottages. Bicycles can be rented on site. Staff at Hlíd Cottages can help arrange Icelandic horse riding trips. Basic groceries are sold at the small on-site grocery store. Breakfast is served each morning in the camp site’s breakfast room. A small guest kitchen is also available. The geothermally heated Mývatn Nature Baths are 2.7 km from the cottages.

“Highly recommend the independent cottages.”
Staff at the reception hut, were warm and friendly with big open smiles upon check in. Refreshing. Access to the cottage was easy. The cottage was spotless, tastefully furnished, thoughtfully organised and welcomingly warm upon our arrival. Everything you might need for a couple of nights stay, had been provided. The location was perfect for exploring the area and we enjoyed a wonderful view from the 2 bedroom cottage.

Friendly and helpful staff, who came out after hours with spare key when we locked ourselves out! Peaceful location with great views. Within easy driving distance to many sights/activities. Very comfortable beds. Enjoyed the experience of a traditional log cabin. Great living space for a family or group of friends. Looking out of the cottage window with a coffee in the morning or evening was my favourite part.

“The cabin was nice and spacious for our family of 4.”
I prefer getting a door code so I'm not limited to the time I can check in to the cabin. Please add screened windows. The cabin was hot during the day and due to the midges, we couldn't open the windows to let the cool air from outside circulate.

“Avoid if you like pleasant room temperatures without mosquitos. Poor facilities and client service”
Unfortunately had a very bad experience here. Upon arriving at 7 PM the cottage felt like it was 27 degrees. We found all of the heaters were turned to their maximum. Opening the windows to cool down the place wasn't an option either, since the house is surrounded my mosquitos/flies and others insects. After sitting down and the chair and it breaking down I felt like we had suffered enough and I contacted the owner to find a resolution. Her reply was that we should just open the windows, because the mosquitos "wouldn't come in", and if they did "they wouldn't bite". I wasn't willing to take that gamble so I booked another hotel nearby. It was a very disappointing experience that the owner and maintenance lady didn't show any consideration for the unpleasantry and acted like it was very normal to sleep in 27 degrees or with a house full of insects. No alternative was provided at all. Additionally, the patio was full with bird poop, and the barbecue couldn't be used due to the amount of corrosion. The place has potential, but with suck a lack of love and care for the facilities and a total lack of client service, it was a very disappointing experience for €440 per night.

The hotel provides good service with helping the clothes washing. And u could easily pick up in the day. Soooo nice!
