DO NOT STAY IN THIS ACCOMODATION UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!!!!!! This will be a long review but please do yourself a favour and take 5 min to read it carefully. I will try to explain as clear as possible what happened to me and this place: I had booked one night here since I was only passing by Muang ngoy. When I arrived at the guesthouse (there was also another lady trying to check in) there was absolutely no one to be found in the spot. As they said on the message they sent me on booking after I made my reservation, I sent them a message on booking messenger saying I was there and wanted to check in: no reply. Then I found their phone number on their booking profile, and called three times: no answer. Then I sent a message on whatsapp to that same phone number telling them I was there and ready to check in: no reply. Then I walked to Penny’s place (a restaurant in town that they also own): no one there. I waited around the guesthouse for aprox. 20 minutes. When I assumed that they had some kind of emergency and since I had only one day in this town and didn’t want to wait for a reply it didn’t look I was going to get, I booked myself another accomodation. Now the fun part starts, at 20:00 I realised that they charged me for the room. I want to clarify that at that point I still hadn’t recieved any call or reply to any of my messages, not on whatsapp and not on booking. I proceeded to send a message on both platforms saying that I had been charged for a room where I couldn’t stay because I had no way of contacting them, and suspiciously enough I instantly got a reply on whatsapp from Penny the female owner saying that they obviously are not around the guesthouse 24 hours a day and that I shouldve scanned one of the QR codes that they have on the walls of the guesthouse to contact them (not a QR code to be seen by the way, and a QR code not mentioned anywhere on the message they send you on booking).

The rooms are probably the best in Muang Ngoy (from what we've seen online). Very comfortable bed, quite soft. Bathroom has a wall between the shower and the toilets, which is nice. Everything is clean, well maintained. The spot is very quiet, just by the river. And the view for the sunset is amazing ! The owner is a very friendly and helpful guy from Sweden. Welcomed us nicely, and helped us with some problems on our bike (he is a mechanic), and gave us what was needed to clean our clothes after the dirt of the road. 100% recommend !

Lovely condo with a dream view over the river: comfortable and simple, clean inside. Gabriel is the owner and greeted us from the deck, and his wife is the owner of the restaurant where you can have breakfast.

The location was great, with a lovely view of the river. The breakfast was pleasant, we recommend the Spanish omelette and banana donuts :) The bed was big and comfortable, and the bathroom was big enough so that when you shower the whole floor is not soaked. Gabriel and Penny were helpful and available to answer any questions. They also booked up our boat trip which we appreciated.

Amazing view with a private balcony. It s so relaxing and definitely worth the price. It s true nothing is perfect but than again this is laos, and you have to deal with humidity, wifi that isn't t strong enough, dust...if you cannot handle that just don t come to laos. Also the breakfast is perfect and more than enough. Also I got sick and the lady from the guesthouse gave medication and fresh towels etc. She is a strong woman and strong woman are most of the time confused with bossy woman but she has a kind heart! I can t help it but I have to say something about a review I saw - Jean Pierre with title Fuyez. Everything is about complaining but I think he should stay in Dubai in a 5 star hotel because i saw his room and if he had it at the same price as a standard he was than lucky to have that beautifull room! He came to our terass complaining that we had to stop making noise like we where having a party! It was not even 21 o clock and we were just on the phone with our family. It s people like that who destroy a business because they don t have a clue about the country they are visiting. It s normal in laos that there are dogs or colder showers for example. Don t pay 35 dollars and expect to be in a 5 star hotel (and the room he had was 5 stars). You should respect the lao culture and definitely on the country side it s different. But you where just a rude toerist!

“Enjoy Muang Ngoy authenticity”

Muang ngoy is a very authentic village. The owners said some spots to visit and we had lunch at their family restaurant and it was tasty. We were picked at the pier, like every other guest house does there. The views from the balcony its the crown jewel of this place! The hammock also its great.

The boat to the place was actually beautiful and the area is really small and not too touristy with beautiful scenery.

The place is lovely. You can see that penny and her husband are working so hard. They are helping you with everything. The place is amazing with a good vieuw! I hope we will go back someday! Thanks penny en your husband for everything!

Comfiest bed I had in Laos. Large bathroom with plenty of room for shower. The hosts were very welcoming, friendly, and great to chat with.

Clean, comfortable room with great view. Good location to restaurants, shops and attractions. Hosts are friendly and helpful. Would not hesitate to book again!

Wonderful wiev from the terrace - laid back feeling, nice and relaxed. Very good breakfast.

Gabriel, the very helpful manager, who picked us up at the landing and brought us also back again and gave us all sorts of practical tourist infos.

Beautiful view over the river & mountains. Comfortable bed.
