Lovely quiet location. We had the house to ourselves. Christine was lovely to talk to and had a lot of information on the Somme battlefield throughout the house. Breakfast was very good. Highly recommended

Super location in historic area

Lovely quiet location in the heart of the Somme. Christine was a great host and helpful. Spacious room and peaceful. We used it to visit an airshow and the nearby town of Albert is great.

We went to visit the area to discover more about the place were our ancestor fought during WW1.

Christine and Jean-Pierre were exceptional hosts making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The rooms were lovely and clean and full of character all set in beautiful, historic location. Jean-Pierre’s knowledge of the local history kept us fascinated and we were able to discover so much about the area. The breakfasts were always up to standard and Christine’s home made jams were delicious, a must try whilst you are there! Facilities were excellent, with parking on site and Wi-Fi available also being lane to use the kitchen to cook our meals to help keep the cost down was also helpful. We will definitely stay there again soon. Ann, Tony and Jason

Great three days, will definitely return. Many thanks.

Everything! Christine is a wonderful host and could not be more helpful. The old station is a superb, characterful building and its location is perfect for anyone wanting to visit the Somme battlefields and area.

A visit to follow in the footsteps of my Great Grandfather where he first went into action.

A wonderful, atmospheric location set amidst tranquil woodland. Bernafay Wood B+B is the perfect place for the informed traveller. Christine is a wonderful host, attentive and informative. She enjoys a chat☺️. The old station is a reflection of its past and the better for it. It is not a 5 star hotel. It must have been a fraught experience for those who didn’t get their towels changed every day and couldn’t get fresh crêpes on demand. I wonder what the troops would have thought of that…not so plucky little Belgians🙄 Highly recommended for a trip to the Somme, I’ll be there again.Thank you Christine and Jean Pierre🍻

Two very peaceful & relaxing nights spent with friends.

Wonderfully rustic B & B set in a peaceful & serene location. For those interested in WW1 this is the perfect base to visit the Somme. The building is steeped in history & tastefully decorated with WW1 artefacts recovered from the battlefield. We enjoyed two nights gazing at the stars & listening to the owls in Bernafray wood. Christine was a very welcoming host & regaled us with some history on the location & treated us to tasty homemade jams at breakfast - guess the flavour if you can! The rooms are comfortable & uncluttered, bathrooms functional but not luxurious, & breakfast unfussy. If you are looking for boutique luxury or a 5* pamper package this is not the place for you, visit a spa. In summary, a beautiful location steeped in history. If you are willing to sacrifice a little luxury, take a step back from technology & appreciate your surroundings, the Bernafray Wood B & B ticks all the boxes.

Unique, restful and a perfect location to explore the Somme

If you want a real experience of France, the Somme and the battlefield area this is the perfect place. If however you want a modern plastic hotel then it is not. The setting in the woods is peaceful and allows you to contemplate what happened here. Christine is delightful and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Rustic charm with a sense of calm and a brilliant time was had. It helped visiting the Somme a special occasion.

It was like stepping back in time. There was a sense of calm as it was away from the roads and surrounded by woodland. The beds we had were surprisingly comfortable and the room with on suite was clean and comfortable. There was access to a large dinning room at all times where we relaxed and chatted with other guests. The hosts were brilliant, friendly and knowledgeable about the area. It was obvious how much pride they take in the property and it’s guests. It was really well positioned for exploring the Somme and it’s monuments. I will return soon.

A perfect base for history buffs to soak up the battles of the Somme.

The B&B is a disused railway station which doubles as a museum, full of artefacts, photos and books relating to the Great War. It is close to all the major memorials and museums of the Somme, with a British cemetery in walking distance. Christine is an excellent host, providing information about the area as well as a good breakfast each morning. This is a rustic place to stay, not a luxurious hotel, yet that is it’s charm, and certainly the perfect place to immerse oneself in the local, brutal history of which it was part.
