Set on a hill overlooking Val d’Orcia, Castello di Velona Resort, Thermal SPA & Winery features a restaurant and a spa centre for an additional charge. This is not the first time we have visited the hotel-SPA, and we can say that in this case we found ourselves quite satisfied. Being able to swim in the thermal water pool is a wonderful experience. Also pleased that the thermal baths could be taken right in the room. The most valuable thing about the hotel is its location. Whilst the service was decent, it's accessibility to the main wine regions, and views in all directions was still the most important thing. Stepping out on the patio or climbing out of the pool we were directly frozen by the incredible beauty of Val d'Orcia. The staff were very attentive and tried their best to help. For example, the nearest bridge over the Orcia River was closed for repairs and we would have had to take a circuitous route to the restaurant. However, the member of staff at reception found out that the bridge was accessible at the weekend, even though all the navigators showed otherwise, and we saved a lot of travelling time. One of the most powerful experiences was a wine tasting in the Castle, conducted by the hotel sommelier. He told us about local wine in a wonderful, clear and interesting way, showed us vineyards, shared the secrets of their care and explained the peculiarities of each variety tasted. We were very impressed and grateful for this unique experience!

The location is nice ,the concept of the castle is clear but struggling with maintaining this image . The swimming pools have yellow bowling water , while 40degree heat outside , food is mega overpriced , for average meal for two people , check was 750 including service charge that nobody informed us about. But maybe u come there Bcs of wine yard and what to have entertaining and interesting wine degustation, and again wrong hotel for 240 euro we got 4 same glasses of wine just different year , sommelier didn’t know a shit about wine and wine tasting . Just to compare afterward we came to another 5 star hotel with perfect wine cellar and service and for 50€ they offer selection of 6 types of wine . The biggest disappointment of the trip was the hotel. Just trying to earn money with overcharging and fooling guests

The place is so beautiful! You gonna be surprised with the view!! All the employees are very kind and helpful! You can enjoy the hot pool and watch the sunset with a good live music! The restaurant and breakfast are amazing!
