“This hotel does NOT take last minute bookings even though the booking will be accepted during the booking process.”
We were travelling through France and booked this hotel at around 3pm on line. We checked to make sure that we had two confirmations by email and then continued our journey, arriving at the hotel around 5.30pm. The hotel was locked up and there was no answer on the telephone. We rechecked the emails and noticed a new email from the host saying that they don’t take last minute bookings! Please, if that is the case, don’t let the system take the booking! VERY inconvenient and we now had to find another hotel at mega short notice. So it was back to the large chain hotels like Ibis, which are okay but we were looking forward to a different experience at this hotel. Very disappointing and not what we needed after a nine hour drive…

“Travel is all about experiencing different places and our stay was short but pleasant”
The host Éric was friendly and welcoming. We were greeted with a cold beer on a hot day which was well received. The property was interesting and quirky both architecturally and in the interior decor. The bed was comfortable and the dinner was delicious. Breakfast too was plentiful. Parking was not a problem.

“Enjoyable stay in stunning setting”
Ancient barn conversion with enormous character run by a very genial host with an equal amount of character! He’s also a superb cook! Very welcoming and yet not intrusive. If only my French was better! I should have informed Erik (his name) that I don’t eat meat ahead of time. The menu is the meal you’re given on the night!

“A lovely place in a lovely area. Great atmosphere and food”
The property is beautiful. We had a lovely evening meal with fresh salad from the garden. There was another family staying who were good company at our meals.

“A charming place and we will definitely stay again if visiting the area.”
We loved the ambiance of Le Chai. The owner, Eric, and his partner made us very welcome and nothing was too much bother. We had a very comfortable room which opened out onto the garden, making it an ideal stay with the dog. We ate dinner with them, which was beautifully presented and cooked, and the Armagnac tasting at the end of the meal ended a perfect day. Breakfast the next morning set us on our way for the long drive home.

“Quite, stylish and comfortable with a friendly welcome and nice breakfast.”
Comfort and style in a lovely old house with a friendly welcome. Peace and quiet. Excellent breakfast. No fuss. Garden in which to relax. Very welcome 1 night stay on drive from St Marlo to the Pyrenees. (Interesting bird life in the area and we saw a beaver at the nearby river)

The house is amazing, with huge plants and incredible artwork and furniture. I had dinner there and Grearian chants played in the background. A Vegetarian meal was provided on request. I could not have felt more wecome. My room was so comfortable with doors out to the garden for my dog. The four poster bed had magazines and books on the bench at the bottom of the bed. Breakfast was a real treat and all the food was sourced from local produce. The picturesque village was 2 minutes walk away and there was a little friendly bar at the corner of the square where I enjoyed a beer.
