Overview
Situated directly on the white sandy beach of Shanzu, Serena Beach Hotel & Spa offers panoramic views over the Indian Ocean. Guests can dine beside the outdoor pool in the extensive tropical gardens. All of the spacious, air-conditioned rooms feature Swahili-style décor with beds surrounded by a mosquito net. Each room is equipped with a TV, minibar and private bathroom. Serena Hotel contains a variety of indoor and outdoor restaurants and bars, many of which play lively music. Room service is available and guests can enjoy a cocktail on their private balcony. Breakfast is served in the garden terrace. A variety of outdoor activities are available including volley ball, pedalos, windsurfing and yachting. After an active day guests can relax with a massage in the Maisha Spa and Health Club. Free private parking is available on site and there is free Wi-Fi throughout. The 24-hour front desk can organise an airport shuttle to Moi Airport 18 km away.

“Exactly how a hotel should be!”
Set in extensive and beautiful mature gardens, this hotel complex is very well laid out and is full of lovely architectural features and African art. The Jahazi restaurant is really good as are breakfasts. However it’s the service that sets it apart. The staff are experienced, well trained and friendly without being intrusive. We were only there a couple of days but they quickly got to know us and our tastes and plans and would make a quick comment when you saw them that made you feel they cared.

Great property: Fabulous breakfast, lovely lawns, right on the sea front. Good pool. Afternoon tea was delicious. Staff were so nice. Very comfortable beds. Jahazi restaurant was very good.

We caught Serena in the off-season: it was quite empty and so very quiet and very relaxing. The staff was super attentive (spoiling us), the food was great - lots of choice for breakfast, and good restaurant options for lunch and dinner. There was a really nice touch of free coffee around lunch and masala tea/coffee/biscuits at 16:00. My wife went bananas on the masala tea, insisting we must have it every day :) We loved the gym (special shoutout to Moses for doing an amazing job, and creating dedicated HIIT routines for us) and the sauna too. We were very happy with the price/service ratio in May, but we arent sure full price in high season is worth it.

Romano at reception welcomed us with a smile, even though our room was not ready when we checked in, he made sure we were comfortable while we waited and never stopped smiling and being polite. Felix at the bar was also amazing and made delicious cocktails for us. Cecilia and Jane at the restaurant were exceptional hosts! Nothing was ever too hard for them and also serviced with a smile.

GREAT RESORT. greatly marred by a certain staff member, EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN ROOMS. OLD ARCHITECTURE BUT VERY WELL MAINTAINED. NICE LADY AT SWITCHBOARD, GOOD TEAM AT RECEPTION, GOOD PICK UP AND DROP SERVICE PROVIDED BY THE HOTEL. QUALITY OF FOOD IS EXCELLENT. Breakfast is very good with great views of the sea and great ambiance.

“Excellent stay”
Check in process was smooth. Staff were friendly. My room was good - clean, spacious. Big TV with a good selection of channels The spa was exceptional - clean, airy, quiet, serene. The staff are professional. Had an excellent massage. Appreciated the Swahili theme of the hotel.

The location, right on the beach with large grounds and a constant breeze made the stay extremely pleasant. The rooms were large in keeping with an older property such as this.

Hiden Gem in Mombasa. Cosy, clean , comfortable beds, breakfast and dinner great and a place to take amazing pictures from. We had lunch at the restaurant in the day time too and spent time in the pool. All was cosy

Meals were great - good options etc The rooms are in very good condition. Looked like recently renovated. Stable Wifi with strong connectivity. Well mainated lawns staff were very friendly and supportive. Always going out of their way.

“Lovely calmer resort”
Lovely calmer resort outside the scope of large travel agencies (which I liked). Beautiful beach garden with enough sunbeds, good food. Calmer place with no noisy shows. Each and every member of the staff is extremely obliging, friendly and attentive. Comfy beds, working Wi-Fi, a gym and excellent massages.

Meals were ok, plenty of choice but probably need a few more western options - juice was odd at breakfast time . ?location, comfort and staff were all excellent
