It’s quite close to the beach and centrally located. The hotel has a nice pool bar. The owner is very friendly and suggests places to party (she has some tuk tuk drivers on standby who will tell you where the best party of the night is going to be at, so definitely check with her before you decide on a place!), she also helps you organise water activities if you’re interested in that. We got a free upgrade to a suite room as it was available. Great stay overall!

“Great Mirissa location near top end of beach with a lovely pool”

Good accommodation with a lovely pool. Family rooms were of a good size and helpful staff. Pool was fabulous with loungers and bar if needed. Breakfast was a very good buffet style. Very near top end of Mirissa beach with nice restaurants and bars. Each walk to Hidden (watch as money was stolen from our bag there) and Secret beach too.

“Elegant, relaxing, and excellent value”

We stayed in a standard double room at Handagedara Resort and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was tastefully presented, clean, and very comfortable, offering a calm and relaxing retreat. The swimming pool and beautifully maintained gardens added a lovely touch of luxury and made the property feel peaceful and refined. Considering the quality of the stay, the price was excellent value. A special mention to Priyanga, the owner, whose warmth and genuine hospitality truly elevated our experience. He looked after us with great care and attention. A wonderful place to unwind—highly recommended for a relaxing getaway.

Great location, only 5 mins walk to the beach and other restaurants. Pool was lovely and clean and we have enjoyed it every day. Delicious breakfast, very friendly staff and would go extra mile to make you happy. It was out daughter birthday during our stay and she had table decorated for the breakfast with birthday card and cake.

Resort and swimming pool, breakfast

The location of the hotel is quite good. It is about a 5-minute walk to the whale-watching harbor and around a 20-minute walk to Secret Beach, which makes it convenient for nearby activities. The hotel has a swimming pool, but the water looked a bit dirty during our stay, and we did not see anyone using it. We booked a double room but were given a family room instead. The room was very spacious, and the Wi-Fi signal inside the room was excellent. Both dinner and breakfast were of good quality, and we enjoyed the meals very much.

Amazing staff! Special thanks to Priyanga who was always there and helped to organize day trips and everything else. We appreciated it a lot. Hotel pool is very nice. There is a nice nearby (5 min walk), also, some very nice and cosy restaurants from a walking distance.

We have stayed here previously and now it has improved with a lovely new big pool and bar. It was always the location that drew us back as so close to the surf area of Mirissa beach and nice bars etc. Good rooms and shower and comfy bed.

“Amazing stay”

Hotel Handagedara is a wonderful place to relax. Everything was excellent — clean, comfortable, and with a very relaxing atmosphere. The staff truly deserves special mention: absolutely the best, always smiling, helpful, and genuinely caring about the guests. The only small downside was breakfast — tasty, but after a few days it could be more varied. On the plus side, the swimming pool was fantastic — a great place to unwind. Overall, I rate the stay very highly and would happily come back.

Fantastic, Amazing location, friendly staff went out of their way to meet our needs, rooms were spacious, clean, great AC and hot water showers. Pool area and bar fabulous and spotless, comfortable seating and relaxation areas. Hotel has Spa facilities, after lots of sightseeing foot massage was heavenly. Great value for money , lady owner always available and gave great local advice. Best stay yet
