“Wonderful 3 days in Mindo”

The host was very friendly and helpful, adjusting breakfast at our request and offering to drive us whenever we went out. The setting is wonderful with birds, frogs and fireflies!

What a wonderful place to stay in Mindo! Rooms are spacious with beautiful views, showers are hot, and beds are comfy. The location is perfect, close enough to walk to town, but far enough you get the peace and quiet. Plus with the little lake, you get a front row seat to a nightly frog concert. Service is 10/10, and Javier truly went above and beyond !

This place looks great in the photos and doesn't disappoint in real life. A bumpy three minute motorbike ride from the town it is quiet and remote and set in lush forest. My room was large and well appointed and everything worked. Best part about CantalaRana is the marvellous Juan Pablo who runs the place. He was there to great me and as soon as I had dumped my bags asked if I wanted to join him in his car as he was taking some other guests to the zipline place. I went along for the ride and he and I hung out together for the rest of my one day/one night stay. He took me to the bird observation place and the butterfly sanctuary, both if which are must see attractions. I strolled into town in the evening for dinner which is an easy ten minutes. Breakfast was excellent. The area is big on trekking and general outdoor activity.

“A beautiful, peaceful retreat into nature”

We had a great stay at CantaRana Lodge. We had a really lovely room overlooking the lagoon where we lay in the hammock in the verandah and just listened to birds and frogs. It was very peaceful and relaxing. Eduardo and his team were fantastic. Eduardo went out of his way to take us to feed the hummingbirds and to visit the butterfly farm. His hospitality was amazing. And breakfast was sensational. We had a wonderful breakfast watching birds and small animals. It was perfect. We had a wonderful stay and just wish we could have stayed longer.

Wow! This place was truly not only a place to stay but a magical experience! It is set right within the cloud forest of Mindo. They not only made you feel welcome, but like you were part of the Cantalarana family. The room we stayed in had all the conveniences of home with an outdoor cooking area, two patios, large beautiful wall to wall windows with a private jungle view. It also has a bottom floor that has spa tub with a view of the jungle. They have a natural pool and waterfall that we used and thought to be so fun!!! The breakfast was spectacular and included with our stay. Juan Pablo was our greeting host and set up our amazing bird watching tours and we were able to view the famous 'Cock of the Rock'. But there is so much wildlife right on the property. Juan Pablo took us around the property at night to hunt for frogs of all kinds. We found an interesting variety with our flashlights....so fun! Juan Pablo made it so special and truly wanted to do everything to make our trip memorable, and he exceeded our expectations. The property is walking distance to town but they will also give you a ride if needed. They also have a large beautiful patio for relaxing in a central area with a large kitchen, and two ping pong tables which we enjoyed. Our favorite person was Eduardo, the mastermind behind this very special resort! He sat with us in the evening to have a glass of wine, we shared stories, and he introduced us to the resident MotMot bird. We loved our stay so much, we extended our visit. We did a fabulous hike to the waterfalls while there and I would highly recommend. At the end of our stay, Eduardo gave us each a Mindo t-shirt that he designed himself, and not only a high quality shirt, but a beautiful design. We love them and we love Eduardo! I truly know we'll be back some day, and hope our paths cross again with our new found friend.

We had an amazing stay! The lodge and rooms are beautiful, in the middle of the nature. The breakfast was amazing. But the best was the hospitality and the kindness of the hosts Eduardo and JuanPablo. Thank you so much for making our stay in Mindo unforgettable!

“A lovely tranquil spot to enjoy nature”

The setting was special, nestled in the rainforest close to town, with plenty of interesting birds and hummingbirds to view at breakfast, along with an agouti or two. The breakfast itself was varied and very good, lots of fresh fruit, and served whenever you need it. The ever helpful host either drove us to town or arranged transport when we did not feel like walking, and even took us on an great excursion one morning where we were able to feed hummingbirds from our hands. The view of the pond was nice and we didn't actually see or hear any mosquitoes despite the setting. The shower was powerful and plenty of hot water, the bed comfy and the overall vibe is very relaxed and private. Only 4 units in total.

The location within the forest is really nice, one can already observe the animals while having breakfast, also the rooms feel remote and quite perfect for a relaxing vacation

The Worst experience I had in my life, we have been robed at the room No.4 while we were outside at least, but the thiefs left us with no car keys, no money, no crédito cards, no id documents, no phone, no charger and to complete the experience we had to sleep in the same room with the window forced with no phone, scared at maximum. There is not enough security, thiefs can get inside by an small metal door behind the Property and watch you.

Owner Eduardo and manager Juan Pablo were outstanding hosts. Breakfast was fantastic. The electric blinds and wall to wall windows were a delight.

Amazing lodge settled in the middle of the nature with superb service and treatment. Will return for sure.

We had an amazing stay at Wikiri lodge. Eduardo is amazing and is willing to help in every single way possible. Full of great tips for actvitities, restaurants etc. He even took us to whenever we wanted to go to town or to an activity. The lodge itself is about 10-15mins walk from Mindo centre, depending if you go up or downhill. The road is lit at night and felt totally safe! The lodge is located on a lovely property right in the middle of the jungle. The natural pool with waterfall shower was refreshing and nice! There's a big pond on the property full of wild life to enjoy in the morning (birds) and in the evening (frogs). The room was spacious and ours had panoramic windows looking at the jungle behind our balcony. The bed was good and the room was kept tidy. Bird lovers will love this place! We saw colibris, tanagers and even a Mot Mot in residence. Breakfast was amazing and varied during our 3 nights stay.

This is a beautiful peaceful oasis to stay whilst in Mindo, Eduardo and Alejandro could not have done more to make our stay great with a beautiful breakfast, driving us around and helping us plan a quite incredible few days in Mindo, I really recommend you stay in this place if you’re heading to Mindo 🤩 The waterfall is an absolute amazing way to wake up in the morning
