Overview
This bed and breakfast is set in a former doctor’s home in the old town of Middelburg. B&B ‘t Poorthuys offers free Wi-Fi and bicycle rental for a surcharge, subject to availability. The abbey is a 4-minute walk. Each room has modern-style interiors, and features a flat-screen TV and private bathroom with shower. There is a garden and terrace where you can relax. “Sweet B&B stay to enjoy yourself”
Great stay. First welcomed by the very friendly host/owner. Second, a great room matching the photo's with all the essentials for a comfortable stay. Third, the breakfast is amazing! A real complete package to enjoy the time. I did not use the sauna facility, however other guests did and they have been very enthusiastic about the quality. The location is great in this small city with an enormous history.

“Fantastic find, and would 100% recommend as you wont be disappointed.”
It is found in a very traditional historic part of the town and was so typically Dutch. Service was great and breakfast very nice. Made to feel really welcome

“Central location in spacious room”
Very central location with a good sized room. Fantastic breakfast. We were able to store bikes very securely in the cellar. Very close to lovely restaurants and all the city sites. And beautiful city centre.

We LOVED everything about this B&B except the beds, which were far too soft for us. There are lots of comments about the beds being comfortable, so either it's just us or the beds in this room were different. It's difficult to give a 10 when you woke up each morning with a very sore back. Leaving that aside, Jeannine is a wonderful hostess. Breakfasts were fabulous. Such a privilege to stay in a house built in 1530.

Extremely helpful staff. Steep staircase (as can often be found in Holland) but helped by staff with luggage. Breakfast variations each morning with local produce. A short walk to the centre.

“Romantic spot for couples looking for a quiet escape in Middelburg.”
The staff communicated consistently after booking and asked if I had any special requests. The breakfast was excellent in a stylish yet traditional dining room. The staff were very friendly and helped me arrange a nice surprise for my partner's birthday during our stay. The bed was comfortable and the shower had relatively strong water pressure. Tea and coffee were available in the room which made for a nice way to start the day before the tasty breakfast.

“Beautiful old house - very comfortable rooms”
It’s a really lovely old house in a great spot to explore Middelburg. The beds are really comfy and even though we were there in very hot weather they have air conditioning to keep you cool if needed. Delicious breakfasts and lovely staff. Highly recommend.
