Casual atmosphere, lovely staff, delicious Japanese style meals and we enjoyed the onsen

The quality of everything, especially the food, is ridiculously high compared to other Ryokans, considering the price.

THE HOSTEL WAS CLOSED AS I WAS THERE. No light was turned on, no customers no staff nobody. And nobody picked up the phone. We knocked and banged every doors but nothing happened! It was a terrible feeling after long tiring day. PLEASE AVOID THIS HOSTEL AT ALL COST!!! It is scam!! We were in panic looking for other hotel as it was already dark and minus 5 degrees. This happened in February 2025.

The hostel was in a lovely location in Asama Onsen with nearby hikes. The hostel was clean and the staff friendly. It was good value for money.

“Fantastic food, retro vibe”

The food was amazing, superb value for money. Both the dinner and breakfast had a great variety of tasty and filling dishes. There were not many staff, but they were all very nice, professional, and welcoming. The room and other facilities were fairly clean but quite old. Boardgames for rental and a small game room with a retro famicom game were fun touches but may feel outdated. The room we stayed in that had been renovated to house bunkbeds was fun for my young son.

Really nice service! Pleasant combination with cute restaurant serving perfect samples of Japanese cuisine. Comfortable and cute rooms. We also enjoyed onsen until late hours.

This was such a great hostel. The bedroom was fab, the onsite restaurant was good and the onsen was excellent too. There was hardly anybody there which seems such a shame.

Such a nice stay. Very convenient facilities and rooms, especially having an onsen and a restaurant, all as part of the hostel itself. The hills nearby were really nice and you can get some really nice views walking them up.

The best hostel I have ever been in. Great food and Sake in the restaurant and the Onsen is wonderful after a day of hiking. It is a bit old school but I love that. You can also easily reach Lake Misuzu by foot.

A great experience. Our lodging included meals and we hadn't realised that the Matsumoto specialty is horse meat which shocked our kids. But the staff were accommodating and changed the set menu for following meals. I recommend making it clear what you will and will not eat well before you arrive. The food was then the best part of the stay. The beds have thin Japanese style mattresses and the sleeping bunks were not a favourite of the adults or older kids but were loved by the younger ones. A nice way to be introduced to onsen too. All in all a special and unique experience for the whole.family.

The girl at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming! I liked the funky style of the hostel, too. The room had a nice desk area and it was easy to check in and out. I also enjoyed the view from the room and all the birds outside in the morning.
