The place is really beautiful and peaceful. We were alone in fact, the breakfast was the best we had in Sri Lanka - hoppers with eggs, mango, pineapple, tea, coco water, pancakes some sweets. You will not finish all of that.

We really liked our stay at Irenes Home. The breakfast was excellent and too much to eat, even we tried very hard. The staff is really nice and helpfull, even washed our laundry for free. We would definitely stay there again.

This place is amazing than how it looks in the pictures. The rooms, washroom, hall and everything were very clean and well maintained. It's also 700m away from the town which makes it even more worth it, with all facilities nearby. I travel frequently to Matale, and the places I have been before were good but not worth the price. The staff was also very helpful and nice. They checked in frequently if I needed tea, made us drinks, drinking water, and more. This place is worth the money and amazing.

Very beautiful house near downtown but quiet with a nice garden. Very clean and comfortable. So friendly and helpful host. Made tea and laundry without charge. Great, very big breakfast with so many different food and fruit, it was just perfect.. The place is perfekt to visit the area, like knuckles mountains or Godapola Teafactory, that is very special.

The old house is cute, and the bedroom is clean and comfortable. Breakfast is local style, but healthy and yummy. The staff is nice and helpful. I stayed at Irene's home for 2 nights. As a wheelchair user, I request that the staff provide a wooden ramp. Amazing, the wooden ramp is ready at the stairs just an hour later.

Lovely calm, clean accommodation close to the centre of Matale. The staff were lovely and helpful and the breakfast was huge and delicious. Highly recommended!

I loved the old style of the house with its inner courtyards, and large verandah. Our hosts were very welcoming and attentive and generous with snacks etc. We enjoyed the bird life in the garden.

Irene’s Home is an absolute gem! A gorgeous Walauwwa/heritage house nestled in the heart of Matale, with mountains as a backdrop. We were there for just an overnight stay, and I loved every moment. A beautifully maintained property, with a charming couple as caretakers - that lady can cook! We had a typical Sri Lankan breakfast, and her dhal curry was a visual feast - and the flavours matched the visual expectations. I would definitely revisit, if I’m ever back in Matale! Location and the environment was amazing. Great place to relax. And convenient as it's closer to town centre. Food was great too.
