“A unique stay!”

A very memorable and unique stay, we had a wonderful tour of the chateau on arrival with its rich history. The bedroom was superbly decorated and adorned with antiquities, as was the chateau! The breakfast was wonderful and held in the salon, our hostess was very attentive. Thank you!

the historic part, comfortable and big room, very friendly host, she explained the history of the place , prepared amazing lunch and dinner for us. we also asked for a cooking class and it was fantastic!

“Parfait!”

We loved everything about it! The Chateau is beautiful, crammed with gorgeous antiques and objets. Our suite was huge and super comfortable so we were able to relax in style. The pool is large and warm with comfortable sun beds and towels. Samuel and Catherine are superb hosts who really make you feel at home ( as do the rest of the family especially the dogs!) This is not a run of the mill hotel experience. We joined their family and our fellow guests for a wonderful evening. The delicious food cooked by Catherine with fabulous wines selected by Samuel - we all left as friends. All of this topped off by a tour of the wonderfully preserved former kitchens in the basement.

Approaching the chateau down its long driveway was as we had travelled in a time capsule taking us back some 160 years. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our rooms furnished with wonderful antiques of the era. Our delicious dinner that evening had been lovingly prepared by our hostess with fresh vegetables from the chateau's gardens. It was not long before we stopped feeling like guests, but instead felt as if visiting friends - the owners of the chateau, Catherine & Samuel Roger. To sum it up, we had a most pleasurable & memorable stay at Chateau Marcellus leaving as friends and will definitely return again.

“Beautiful chateau in the middle of the french countryside”

The place is beautiful and Catherine went above and beyond to cook us a delicious dinner and prepare a lovely breakfast for us. The Chateau is a little out of the way but it is exactly what we wanted as we wanted to stay in authentic french accommodation rather than a hotel. The room was very spacious with beautiful french furniture, the gardens are beautiful and the whole place was immaculately clean. We look forward to returning.

For us it was an absolutely unique experience, expecting to arrive and be treated like hotel guests, but instead Catherine and Samuel made us feel as if we were visiting friends. The setting is fabulous, but many boutique hotels can boast that, however, the warmth and friendliness of our hosts far exceeded our expectations and are unrivalled in our experience of the many years of our international traveling. Catherine and Samuel deserve 10 out of 10 and we wish them the best for their forward vision.

Excellent stay at Château Marcellus. Unforgettable beauty of the castle, interiors and surroundings made this trip one of the best in my life. Welcoming hosts, very good breakfast and dinner prepared by Catherine with good quality local products and wines. Highly recommended!
