“A Magical Stay Full of Kindness and Charm”

We had the most wonderful experience at Manoir du Vau d'Arz. We arrived earlier than the scheduled check-in time, and were warmly welcomed by Sophie and Dominique, who immediately offered us a coffee and made sure we had everything we might need. Without hesitation, they called the cleaning staff to prepare the gîte that was assigned to us, and in no time, it was ready — and it was absolutely fantastic. The place itself is simply enchanting, taken care of with incredible attention to detail. It truly felt like a shame to leave and visit other places when all you wanted was to relax and enjoy the peaceful beauty surrounding of this place. Sophie was exceptional — incredibly attentive, kind, and skilled in making every guest feel special and well taken care of. This is a place that stays in your heart, and we will definitely come back. Highly recommended in every possible way.

We arrived at Sophie's place as a stopover on a long European trip. We needed exactly this peace and relaxation to continue! Very attentive host, wonderful breakfast - the jams are fantastic! The MANOIR DU VAU D'ARZ isn't just an accommodation, but a HOME where you're welcome to be a guest—and should definitely be one! The entire property is so tastefully designed! Every corner, every room, simply everything shows how much heart and soul has been invested here. Aside from the tranquility, the wonderful beds, and the amazing breakfast in the garden, the warmth of the hosts Sophie and Dominique deserves special mention. It was so much fun chatting with them. They are very accommodating, helpful with reservations, and you can trust every one of their tips blindly. I don't think we've ever felt as welcome in an "accommodation" as we did here! We were even able to speak a little German with Sophie (GENAU!), and she's also fluent in English. What can I say: if it weren't so far away, I'd be back next weekend.! Such a lovely, special place. It’s so beautiful and we were made to feel very welcome by Sophie. We enjoyed walking into Rochefort in the evenings or eating on the sunny terrace. Do book the Nordic spa for a very relaxing hour.

“Heavenly Haven on the River”

Sophie and Dominique were genuinely warm, welcoming and very knowledgeable on the general locality. They also showed us around their amazing Manoir and explained a bit on its history, which is situated by the River Arz (a European protected natural site / SAC) which winds through the lands and gardens, creating a calm, bucolic scene. The Manor house dates from the 1500s, and includes an intact tower house with original wooden staircase. Fascinating stuff. The gites themselves are tastefully renovated and decorated, with supremely comfortable mattresses. A beautiful setting, comfortable lodgings and charming hosts. We thoroughly recommend! Beautifully restored, superb beds and linens. Breakfast in our room, served in a beautiful basket and tray of delicious fresh croissant and homemade jams. The gardens and situation of the property is exquisite.

This is a most magnificent place to stay.Sophie was a pleasure to meet ,she could just not do too much for us .The rooms we had in the tower just cannot be described in words they are the best you will find anywhere.These rooms are full of history that can be appreciated by the attention to detail in the decoration and finish.The comfort and serenity are a joy to the senses .I must mention the beds they were really the most comfortable I have ever encountered. We had "Sophie breakfasts" they were absolutely perfect and a little different each time however the locally made butter (hand churned) and yogurt (from the farm next door) + Sophie's home made jams and bread /cake cannot be bettered. We will return in the future but I think getting a booking may be difficult as there will be a lot of return guests Jerry &Maeve Sept 2024

Great place to stay in a lovely location, it had everything we needed. The accommodation was nice and clean and well decorated. The heated pool was a bonus too. The nearby medieval town of Rochefort was beautiful with lots of history to explore.

Sophie and Dominique are the heart and soul of Bretagne! Their manoire is an extraordinary place to visit. The house, breakfast and the surroundings are incredible. Their travel advice and local food recommendations are well worth listening to. When in Bretagne, don't miss this!

A beautiful Manoir situated in a remote location 1.5 kilometres from Rochefort-en-Terre. Renovated with great attention to detail, retaining many old features, including the 500 year old wooden staircase in the tower. The rooms, decorated with taste and attention to detail, have a unique atmosphere and the mattresses on the beds are a masterpiece. The lovely owner, for whom this place is a passion serves wonderful Breton breakfasts in the garden. If you're looking for beautiful, boutique places in Brittany, you don't have to anymore, this is exactly what you're looking for, and we'll definitely be back. It really is worth it, if only for one night, although you will certainly want to stay longer.
