Set in a restored palace, URSO Hotel & Spa, a Small Luxury Hotel of the World is 5 minutes’ walk from Alonso Martínez Metro Station. It offers elegant rooms, free WiFi, a spa and gym. From the doorman and reception desk to the bar and breakfast room, the staff were friendly, courteous and professional. The Hotel is very well located, just a short walk from the hustle and bustle of the main streets. The rooms are beautiful, the beds are comfortable, and we appreciated the environmentally conscious approach of quality bulk-dispensing containers for toiletries, rather than individual single-use containers.

Only a 9 in total evaluation, and here is why: Travellers with pets be careful. I booked our stay with Booking.com, and had included the fact that we are travelling with a service animal. I had a fixed price confirmed by Booking.com. Upon arrival, the front desk told me they had to upgrade our room because we were travelling with a Pomeranian dog. This upgrade would be Eur 150 / night, therefore Eur 300 for the stay. I explained that we never asked for an upgrade and this basically means they are charging for the pet. I also explained that by European law, hotels cannot charge anything for a service animal (which our Pomeranina is, we have documentation). We had a major disagreement on this issue. Finally the manager reduced the Eur 300 to Eur 120 for the two nights, which is still not correct. We will follow up on this.
