A wonderful garden like base. it’s a real privilege to stay in Diego and Janeth‘s lovely casa. Cosy and spacious, spotlessly clean, outstanding breakfast and free tea around the lovely fireplace to return to in the evenings. Full of inspirational pictures from Diego’s climbing business and plenty of advice of how to enjoy the nearby area.

“Wonderful stay”

Everything was perfect! I had a great stay here. The bed was super comfortable, big rooms, nice breakfast. The owners were super friendly, took me to a shop and dropped me off at a meeting point where I got picked up. Highly recommend! Hope to come back one day:) Muchas gracias por todo!

“Good value stopover”

I only had an overnight stay but the room was comfortable with a view (on tiptoe) of Cotopaxi. Clean, convenient. Good recommendations for eating out

The location is perfect for expeditions and adventures into Cotopaxi itself, right on the boundary and exit road to Cotopaxi (20-30 minute drive from here), also a very short walk to some highly rated eateries in Machachi. We stayed in a 3-bed bedroom (Cotopaxi Room) and they have some of the most comfortable beds and bed-setups of any place I've stayed in Ecuador, so if you need rest like we did (after 6 hours of heavy horse riding and one fall mid-gallop) then the comfort here is perfect. Warm rooms during night, good lighting, and small little social area for all guests, which is a lovely touch. They serve breakfast, which is incredible, as a bonus, and the owners are very warm, welcoming, and informative. They answered all our minor questions and helped inform us when our horseman showed up in the morning as well as preparing breakfast for us very, very early, so they really go above and beyond here. For the rooms alone, I would suggest booking here, Machachi is definitely worth a stay - seems like a very safe town (we were out early morning and late night without ever any issue, talked to many locals and they helped guide us around the town). The shower and toilet facilities are good, but the shower is slightly difficult to manage if you want a hot blast, but it's nothing to complain about.

“Peaceful area & knowledgeable hosts”

Very peaceful area with plenty of common areas to sit. The owners are nice and very knowledgeable on all things nature related. Free hot water readily available. The BnB is close to the main square of Machachi. Nice kitchen in the cabin.

“Best place to go for Cotopaxi!”

Very nice place with Diego being one of the most wonderful recent hosts. Gave us lots of input for our hiking adventure and helped with easy booking. If you want to start some "walk" to Cotopaxi, that's THE place.

Very cozy place, with a lot of space to sit around. The staff was very helpful with organizing transport. We could leave our backpack while going to cotopaxi. We really recommend the place.

“Relaxing and comfortable stay”

Very cosy lodge on the edge of the town Machachi, kept very clean and well-equipped. Very relaxing vibe and so much better value than some of the more well-known lodges in the mountains. Diego and his family are super welcoming. The tour agency that Diego runs also offers tours to cotopaxi and the surrounding mountains so it makes travelling around pretty easy.

Friendly staff, good breakfast, nice location

The room was very spacious and the main-building has a nice “living room” with couches and a cozy fireplace. Breakfast was good and the staff friendly.

Comfortable room. Free tea in the evenings. Small shared kitchen, equipped for making simple meals. The communal fireplace was great for warming up/drying things after a rainy day of hiking.

“Great hostel to visit Cotopaxi!”

The hostel is very nice and cozy. We had a beautiful room (Cotopaxi) with comfi beds. The breakfast was very good and plenty. The host and his family are very welcoming and friendly. One night we walked out to have dinner and bumbed into them and they took us for dinner by car to a nice restaurant where we had dinner together which was very nice! Great place to visit the Cotopaxi vulcano and they offer multiple option to do so. Would definately recommend this place!

“Nice rooms and good neighbouring tour company”

Great value for money and lovely rooms. We did the Cotopaxi tour with the neighbouring outdoor company and loved it, it was so easy and quick to organise! Clean and comfortable, with a communal kitchen.

Diego and his family had a very warm and friendly welcome! The hostal is nice and their visit to Cotopaxi is really worth it! Best place to stay in Machachi!
