The location is amazing. It is in the historic town center. The room is well sized. Bed is comfortable and everything is perfectly clean. I will definately stay here again. Massimo is a great host and always kind and ready to help. The room includes breakfast that can be redeemed downstairs which is very nice.

Situated in a very old italian medieval walled hill-top village, Il Cassero property is right on the outer walls welcoming you with a beautiful garden and cool villa (literally cool because of the shade and thick stone walls, especially in the summer heat). The interior is antique but well maintained, and the room was large providing all the confort and amenities needed. Lucignano is well situated so travelling times between other Tuscan attractions are short. We will return for sure!

The apartment is spacious and large, the place has a special charm, like a hotel on the edge of the old city, and an observation tower overlooking the surroundings.

This place is amazing! The house is centuries old and absolutely beautiful. It is conveniently located at the edge of the old town, and yet you also have access to a little piece of paradise about a kilometer away, where you can relax by a large pool with stunning views of the valley. The host (Massimo) is super accommodating and helpful. He provided us with breakfast vouchers that we could use at several breakfast bars in town (we chose the one right outside the gate, which was great). We’d most definitely book this place again - highly recommended!!

“A special property, and a great base to explore Lucignano and the surrounding countryside.”

We loved the location of Il Cassero, right by the main gate into the town of Lucignano. It is gated access and you are encouraged to drop bags and park outside, but we never had a problem finding a free parking space, 2 minutes walk away. It’s a beautiful old building and our apartment was on the second floor overlooking the front garden. A lovely light airy room, cool with the aircon, and traditional furnishings entirely appropriate for the building. Climbing the wide marble stairs, you almost feel like you are in one of the many palazzos we visited! Good sized bathroom with separate shower cubicle. Tiny kitchen, with basic equipment, but we had no need to use it other than for the fridge! There were 3 or 4 very creaky steps up to reach the bathroom and kitchen! Breakfast was by voucher in restaurants literally outside the property’s gates. Certainly enough to set you up for a day’s exploring! There are also several very good restaurants of various levels of cuisine in and around the town, so on our 4 nights we ate very well, somewhere walkable and different every evening. Check out La Tavernetta particularly and the Gelato shop inside the town walls. It was a great base for day trips out to Arezzo, Cortona, and many other beautiful places in the countryside around us. We also loved climbing the property‘s own tower which gave a panoramic view of the town and surrounding countryside. We would return to Lucignano at the drop of a hat and would love to stay at Il Cassero again.

Amazing place and a perfect location to stay when visiting the area. Massino and his wife are very lovely, well organised and caring hosts who ensured we had a pleasant stay. Because of the interior, you have a feeling that you are staying overnight in a castle or a museum that normally would be available only for visiting. Private swimming pool nearby available to guests only was great. Access to the tower with an amazing view was a nice surprise as well. I highly recommend the place and truly hope to visit it again. Thank you!

“Really lovely mansion with beautiful surroundings in Tuscany”

- we really like our room, it was clean and had all the amenities we needed - communication with landlord was smooth - air conditioning was installed in the room (which I assume is a newer thing, compared to previous reviews), which was great - the building is old, but has a pleasant atmosphere - almost like living in a chateau - the location is really great - it is in the center of a small village but there are some good pubs/cafes/restaurants, also the garden that belongs to the property is really nice and there is also a tower that belongs to the property and you can see a nice view from the top sunset - you get a voucher for breakfast and you can choose from three different cafes where you want to eat (the small minus is that you have to ask several times to get what you want) - in walking distance (max 20 mins) is also private pool which can be used (with WC, mini fridge..)

“Great stay in a wonderful town”

Massimo provided excellent communications before we arrived to make sure check in was super smooth. Nothing too much trouble, we were able to borrow an iron as we were in town for a wedding and our clothes were creased in our cases. We arrived at the property and it's truly beautiful, so much wow factor. The location is brilliant as you're right next to the gardens and portico to access the walled town. Great parking and restaurant access. The breakfast choices are superb, and having all a kitchen in the room and a carrefour so close, we were able to do exactly what we wanted. The Duke room is very, very comfortable, the blackout shutters allowing for excellent sleep. The antique furniture provides a luxury and historic feel. We wouldn't hesitate to book again.
