“A perfect retreat into Dominican nature!”

Amazing view on the Samana bay, the rice fields, and the mangrove forest. Quiet, peaceful place. Very clean, very friendly staff, good food and good price/quality. The hotel also put us in touch with their guide Wilfried, with whom we spent a nice day in the national park. I definitely recommend this place!

A Hidden Paradise in Nature We spent two unforgettable nights at Altos de Caño Hondo, nestled in the heart of Los Haitises National Park, and it truly felt like stepping into a hidden paradise. The setting is simply breathtaking, surrounded by lush jungle and spectacular natural pools cascading down the hillside. Our room was spacious and full of rustic charm, even including thoughtful touches like a bathrobe. I especially loved relaxing in the hammock on our balcony, taking in the beautiful views of the savannah, forest, and distant sea, while listening to the soothing sounds of birds, the river, and waterfalls. The architecture is a work of art in itself — natural, unique, and perfectly integrated into the landscape. The staff were incredibly humble, kind, and attentive, which made the experience even more special. The food was delicious, and waking up to the sounds of nature each morning was pure bliss. Being in such a pristine forest environment, it’s only natural to encounter lizards, butterflies, insects, and mosquitoes — all part of the authentic experience of staying so close to nature. The hotel also kindly put us in touch with a taxi driver, Mr. Edwin, whose service was excellent and highly recommended. He picked us up from Punta Cana and later took us to Santo Domingo, making our journey smooth and stress-free. If you’re looking for a unique eco-lodge experience away from the crowds, this place is truly something special. Highly recommended — a magical escape into nature.

Well appointed room, with a lot of space and a great view from the balcony. Clean and very comfortable beds. WiFi was included and signal was strong.

The room is beautiful, with a charming all-wood design that gives it a warm and unique feel. The hotel itself is built into the rock, which makes it especially appealing. Despite being surrounded by nature, the rooms are very clean and we didn’t encounter any animals inside. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent, and the restaurant offers a lovely view. The hotel is also very conveniently located, just a short distance from the pier where tours to Los Haitises depart.

Amazing views from our room, very comfortable bed, lovely friendly staff, free access to all the swimming pools at the hotel next door, free coffee and water available all day, fascinating building/architecture, very close to boat dock for tours of Los Haitises.

We loved the gorgeous views surrounding the property. Rustic style room was nice and comfy, and clean. We had everything that we needed. Food was very delicious. Great refreshing pools nearby. Would definitely recommend!

The location is beautiful, rustic appearance, that was spectacular. We loved our time there. Staff were very nice and took great care with us. Prices were very affordable. A bit of road construction on the way there, but no problem. The rustic pools were amazing. Food and drink were great. Nothing we did not like.

“Great experience for nature lovers”

This is an amazing and unique accommodation in the heart of nature. Especially great for birders, since the rare Ridgway’s Hawk and many other interesting species can be seen easily around the lodge. The food is great for a good price and the staff super friendly. Of course you have to expect difficulties if you don’t speak Spanish, but if you try enough, you always get what you want. Also I have to mention the amazing views from the rooms and properties!

Amazing hotel, food and staff! We had the best time!

Just a fantastic place - very unique. Nice staff, good food, fantastic views from our room. It might be rustic for some people, but the room was very spacious and comfortable. No air-conditioning, but the location on the hillside was breezy and cool - the ceiling fans were more than enough. A beautiful spot and a different experience - one of our favourite places in the D.R.
