The accommodation was comfortable and warm. Although the bathrooms were shared, our room was next to one. We therefore didn’t have any difficulty

“Brilliant stay in the arctic”

Clean room and shared showers/toilets excellent condition and never busy. The sink in the room was also helpful. Brilliant view from our window. ~Only about 25 minutes walk into town. Staff very friendly. Breakfast simple but sufficient - yoghurt, fruit, seeds, chia, bread, meats, cheese, tuna, salad. It's expensive for what you get but you're in Svlabard - everything is expensive!

“Lovely Traditional Meets Modern Hotel”

I've stayed here every summer for 10 years - always a comfortable stay. A nice mix of traditional coalminer accommodation meets modern. Excellent value for money, much much better than the Radisson or other overpriced hotels which in fact have basic rooms. Good rooms with wardrobe space. Showers (shared bathrooms) are very nice pressure and temperature. Breakfast selection is good and varied. The communal area / restaurant-bar is a very pleasant place, and the accommodation is set away from the main town in the older Nybyen area. Possible to see arctic fox, ptarmigan and reindeer on the property. Convenient checkin and luggage storage facilities.

I chose Coal Miners because it was the cheapest offer and I was nicely surprised! Good breakfast, very nice staff, bar with beer and also some food, cozy area to sit and relax, the rooms were simple but comfortable, the bathrooms were nicely renovated, clean and large enough. I was afraid of the walking distance to the town (2-3 km), but in the end, it was a great way to stretch my legs and look around.

Super comfy bed! I’ve stayed at five different hotels in town, and Coal Miners is one of the comfiest.

The shared kitchen doesn't have enough cutlery and crockery - there was only one teaspoon and one soup bowl for the whole accommodation!
